How to unlock the Double-sided Bat Flip! achievement in MLB The Show 22 - Definitive Guide

I got this in Exhibition mode. Set the Away team (left side of team selection screen) to Atlanta Braves, Home team (right side) to Pittsburgh Pirates, and select Atlanta as your team. After selecting teams select the default, #1 pitcher (Max Fried) for the Braves, then on the lineup screen scroll down to Ozzie Albies and press Right Trigger, to select Player Lock (you'll now play the game through just his POV), the Start to begin.

Since you selected Atlanta as your team, and since Albies is the #2 batter, you'll get to bat in the first inning. In my game my first at bat was with Albies batting left handed (vs. right handed Pirates Pitcher Mitch Keller). If you get a hit in your at bat proceed, if you don't then press Start and restart the game until you do get a hit.

After getting a hit in that first inning at bat proceed through the game. Your next at bat will be in the 3rd/4th inning, against the same pitcher, so you'll still be batting left handed. Doesn't matter whether you get a hit here.

But you'll bat again in the 6th or 7th, and again (hopefully) in the 8th or 9th, and in all likelihood in one of these at bats the Pirates will have brought in their next Pitcher. For me this was Anthony Banda, a left handed pitcher, so Albies now batted right handed. Get a hit here and once you're on base the achievement will pop. Took a few tries but guaranteeing the leadoff hit (via restarting when not getting it) made it easier - then just need some luck and/or skill once facing Banda.

To make it easier, do the same method but play against Baltimore. John Means is a lefty who will start and then you just have to get a hit off a righty out of the pen.

Got it first try doing this. Otherwise thumbs up from me.

I did it against the Baltimore Orioles as mentioned in the above comment and took only 1 restart for me to get the achievement. Thumbs up for this solution and comment above!

Good guide. Works well. I did the same as some of the commenters, taking on the Orioles. But I used the AL All-Star team instead. Used 3B Jose Ramirez and set him to bat first with player lock enabled. First AB hit a triple up the right field line against Means. Got my left side knock in the 7th inning with a gentle Texas leaguer into the gap behind 2nd baseman and right fielder. Ended up going 3 for 5 with an RBI and a run scored. Woot!

Worked on my first attempt! (Set batting to "Beginner" to make this extra easy.)

To save a little time, cut down on the setting swapping and roster management, this achievement is obtainable by doing a moment in the Babe Ruth program found within Diamond Dynasty.

Navigate to Diamond Dynasty -> Play -> Programs -> Other Programs -> Starter Babe Ruth -> Moments -> Braves are World Champs

During this moment the player is thrown into a three inning game and tasked with beating the Astros with the Braves, who's lead off hitter is Ozzie Albies and he happens to be a switch hitter. The Astros starter is a lefty and since it's a three inning game their stamina drains quickly and if you get enough hits off of him they will bring in a reliever - hopefully a righty (as it were in my case) before Albies' next at bat. Simply get a hit with him from both sides of the plate.

The moment is set on Rookie difficulty and if the player fails to get a hit in the first at bat, a restart option is available in the pause menu via Exit -> Confirm Restart.

If a thumbs down is left, please explain why in the comments for further help.

It is better to just play an exhibition game using the Braves as your visiting team, and then playing against a team that will start a left-hander, such as the Orioles. That way you can simulate the half innings where you have to pitch. You can’t simulate in “moments.”

To accelerate pitching changes just play a 3-inning game. Albies hits second by default, so be sure to move him to leadoff.

I have a quicker version.
You can play the exhibition using Albies from Braves (any switch hitter) on a full 9-inning game, the trick is to toggle the Player Lock option when selecting the batting order. You will play all his enters, fielding and batting. He will switch sides batting eventually.

Thanks for the comments and yes, there may be quicker ways to unlock the achievement, however this solution is the avenue I had getting it without even attempting to go for it by just jumping into the moment and playing the objective.

Make your Road to the Show player a switch hitter. Inevitable.

What worked for my buddy and I was after the first at bat with your switch hitter if they batted RIGHT handed the first time switch the pitcher to LEFT handed, let the other team bat again before your switch hitter comes up and he should switch.
(EX: If you batted right the first time switch the pitcher to left before the next at bat and the batter should switch hands)

Also easier to achieve in online exhibition with a friend so you can plan it out on the changeouts of the pitcher

Carlos Santana is on the Kansas City Royals
Jose Ramirez is on the Cleveland Guardians

You might unlock this while working on the Dynamic achievements. You need a batter with an 'S' next to his name (that means he is a switch hitter) to hit from both sides of the plate in the same game. Once he does the achievement will unlock.
