How to unlock the Flashing the Leather! achievement in MLB The Show 22 - Definitive Guide

This isn’t as difficult as it sounds. Choose a ground ball pitcher and set your team as the home team so you pitch first.

I chose Dallas Kuechel with the White Sox vs the Astros, as they are aggressive hitters. List of ground ball outs by pitcher - https://www.teamrankings.com/mlb/player-stat/ground-ball-out...

Just intentionally walk the first batter of the game/inning (LB+B). Then throw inside sinkers to try and get ground balls. Don’t get outs if they aren’t ground balls. Let fly balls and foul balls drop to increase your chances.

If you don’t get the double play ball in the first inning, just restart the game (START > EXIT > CONFIRM RESTART). Rinse/repeat until you get a double play ball in the first inning, then use the next 8 innings to try and do it again.

Don’t forget to restart once you get two outs! You can simulate your batting half-innings to speed up the game - but only the early innings. If your pitch count is high the auto manager can substitute you.

I got this in about 15 minutes of trying - I got it by the 3rd inning.

Literally got this my first attempt in inning one and two with this strategy. Maybe 5 minutes. Great guide!

Why I have to restart after the 2 outs?

@escapetheroach & @y2kasper10--he means in the first inning when you are going for the first double play. If you already have two outs, you can't get a double play.

Perfect guide. Only thing I did differently was adjusted sliders for CPU Batting. Contact at 100% and everything else (power, timing, solid hits, etc) to 0%.

Inside sinkers and they just hit in-field ground balls frequently.

Got it on maybe my 5th pitch of the game.

Great Guide. For those that don't speak baseball, though, there are 3 outs in an inning, so if you get to 2 outs, you CAN'T get a Double Play that inning. That's why they recommend restarting at 2 outs in the first inning if you haven't gotten a Double Play yet.

Worked like a charm with Keuchel. Thanks!

I had to increase my batting difficulty because the hitters kept striking out. If this is happening to you, try Rookie or Veteran difficulty.

This doesn’t work any more as Keuchel no longer plays for the White Sox. He was DFAd due to being terrible and the in-game rosters are the same as real life. The rosters update in real time. I can’t find a way to reset the rosters. Any other pitchers who are good for this achievement?

Used Mikolas on the Cardinals. It took a full game and about 5 restarts, but eventually got the 2nd one in the 4th inning

I got this with Framber Valdez of the Houston Astros.

He had the lowest average launch angle out of any starting pitcher in the league this past season (-3.6°, the only starting pitcher in the league to have a negative average launch angle), so getting ground balls should be easy.

What I did was pitch towards the bottom of the zone, but not in the dirt, to increase my odds of getting a ground ball. Doing this method, in addition to intentionally walking the first batter I faced every inning, I got this by about the 4th inning (in a 9 inning game).

The quickest way to get this is create a player with a Fielding architype in Road to the Show, and choose Shortstop as your position. This took about 10 mins.

In the RTTS settings, make sure Gameflow is set to "Skip to Next Appearance". You'll skip all plays that don't involve you as a fielder and multiple times a game there's a double play opportunity. If for some reason the game doesn't present the opportunity to turn two through 9 innings, they only run 5-10 mins long and it's easy enough to try in the next game.

You can also pop on all pieces of equipment that offer Fielding and Reaction bonuses first, throwing and accuracy bonuses secondary if you choose.

Play on Casual, I find the "Buttons" easiest in RTTS Throwing Interface setting, turn off the ShowTime.

I booted up RTTS to get some clips for this solution and got it again on my first try.
6-4-3 the first play, 4-6-3 the second double

The idea behind this achievement is to turn (2) double plays in the same game. A double play is while there is a runner on first you throw a ball to second (getting the force out) and then throw it to first to get 2 outs in the same play. It's a lot easier than it sounds.

As the NL All Stars at home you'll want to play against a Minor league team (press lb.png on the away team select). I also recommend adjusting all sliders to the left for baserunning speed.

As the home team you will pitch first. Walk the first batter and then throw some curveballs or changeups low in the strike zone. This should cause a ground ball to your infield. Simply throw it to 2nd base and then 1st. Do this twice in a game (over several innings) and the achievement will unlock. You DO NOT have to complete the game.
