In the Diamond Dynasty Mode there are "moments" you can take over and play to earn rewards track points (think battle pass) that reward you with packs, players, items, etc...
Under the AL East section if you earn enough rewards by completing moments, sets, etc you hit level 2. I unlocked it by completing all 5 moments under AL East, you get 5,000 Track points and you can buy a choice/fantasy pack, I'm a big O's fan so I chose Diamond Mike Mussina 87 in that pack and it popped.
Note This is working right now at launch (Season 1 of Diamond Dynasty) it may change/not be available as the year goes on.

I can't seem to open any Choice Packs, either for this or the other solution. When I choose them, it tells me to choose 2 of 8, but doesn't select anything. I tried Mussina in the AL East, and Lefty Grove on the Season 1 Path.
Edit: NM, I didn't know you couldn't open them from the Programs screen, had to go into Collect, My Inventory, My Packs to redeem.

Yes Kran800, what you are doing there is viewing the options, not opening the packs.
Wanted to add, with Topps Now, at least currently. You just have to complete any 3 moments to get 6 pts and open your first pack. Just picked the SP and bleep bloop.

Pretty easy don't worry, no buying card packs and RNG required.
In Diamond Dynasty there is basically a Battle Pass called Reward Path in which you get XP from doing about almost everything in the game.
At level 3 of the Reward Path(20,000XP) You'll get a choice pack. Open this pack and choose either Lefty Grove or Walker Buehler and the achievement is your.
Additionally, after choosing the card you can use the 'Sell Now' option and get this achievement
The If You Love Something... achievement in MLB The Show 23 worth 40 pointsSell a diamond rarity card on the community market, using the "Sell Now" option.
This is also for future reference in each reward path as the current one will only last so long, you will get free choice packs by basically playing the game and getting XP progressing into each level.

This didn't work for me. I had two choices from packs with Diamond SP, I picked Lance McCuller Jr and Lefty Grove. Didn't pop for either.
EDIT: One thing I hadn't done was start Diamond Dynasty mode (I opened my packs from the menu in March to October. Maybe you have to get to the "open pack" task first? Or it's just glitched for me!

Another way is to play the Al East rewards and if you complete all 5 you get 5,000 TA and you can buy a choice pack, choose Diamond Mike Mussina and it will pop
