How to unlock the Open the Tool Box achievement in MLB The Show 24 - Definitive Guide

Pause in-game, then go: Manager -> Substitutions, and change any player for one on the bench. The game will then go back to the pause menu, make another sub and the achievement will pop.

Just to clarify, I did this more than once with "quick" options and that DOES NOT work. Has to be manager/sub. Having issues with pinch hitter and it's probably the same thing.

Are there some game mode or situations in which “Manage” is greyed out and you can only select from “Quick Manage” - that’s what keep happening to me, and then the achievment does not pop.

The manager option is grayed out depending on the current game situation.

e.g. after striking out a batter, if you hit pause before the next pitch selection (during the batter walk up animation) Manage is greyed out. If you wait for the walk up animation to finish and you can select your next pitch, hitting pause will have the Manage option available to select.
