How to unlock the Trading Places achievement in MLB The Show 24 - Definitive Guide
This is going to be a little hard to set up and should just happen while you are playing games/working to other achievements but I wanted to lay out a couple tips.
You can earn this through any of the typical game modes but easiest is going to be in a SHOWDOWN game. Reason being, in a Showdown finale you will have MANY outs you can just run into and don't have to worry about the 3rd out resetting your baserunner. Another option could be an exhibition game with custom rosters to give you attribute boosts.
But go to the Starter Showdown, it is free, draft your team and skip to the final Showdown. A lot of your team will have terrible stats but you won't accidentally hit a homerun at least! Plus, win or lose, if you don't get the achievement the time to reset your setup isnt devastating...
Step 1 - get on base!
In Showdown you are at bat, or start as the Away team so you bat first. With custom rosters you could set up a leadoff batter with 99 speed and bunt your way on base. You just need to get to 1st...so however that is comfortable for you / your setup.
Step 2 - get to 2nd. With your speedster, steal 2nd base. Or bunt him over if you didn't have a quick player. If you 'accidentally' get another bunt single, just run one of your base runners into an out/double steal the next AB so they throw you out at 3rd and have just the runner that stole 2nd.
Step 3 - get a double. This is going to be the tricky part and the reason I would HIGHLY suggest to not "hunt" this achievement, but here are the tips!!! Getting a double on demand is just not simple for me.
You should now have 20 ABs to score your runner. If you ground into an out to the 1st base side, make sure your base runner doesn't take 3rd. If you hit a pop fly, don't advance the runner either. You need to stay planted at 2nd until you get a hold of one.
If you ever get a single where you would clearly get thrown out trying to take second, don't run into an out just yet and keep your runners at the corners. Worst case is the Defense gets the Out at 2nd and allows the run to score because it "resets" your setup. Runners on the corner is a better situation. On the next pitch, run a double steal from 1st and 3rd. Your runner on 3rd will be thrown out at home but you are easily set back up to try for the double again with your runner now at 2nd.
I got this in Starter Showdown (free to enter) with a ground rule double that bounced over the fence on my 15th at bat of the inning.
Use a normal or a contact swing as you don't want to accidentally hit a homerun (even though you still might do that with your Diamond players...)
