Supposed to be My Day Off

Have your closer get a one-out save. (Excludes simulated gameplay.)

How to unlock the Supposed to be My Day Off achievement in MLB The Show 24 - Definitive Guide

This can be done in a three inning game.

Simply have a lead of 3 or less runs, and bring in your closer as soon as you’re one out away from winning. The cheevo will pop upon finishing the game. I used Met superstar, Edwin Diaz!

EDIT: The closer is the pitcher in the bullpen labeled CP at the bottom. Make sure you use this pitcher for the one-out save!

Just a heads up, I tried this twice with the Beasts and Boomers and it didn't unlock. First time trying as the Yankees it worked. So I'd play it safe and play as one of the 30 MLB teams

Not exactly sure what the exact requirements of a "save" are but here's what I did. I loaded up a 3 inning game and scored 2 runs. In the top of the third I logged 2 outs with my starting pitcher and then loaded the bases. I then threw in my closing pitcher (position must say CP) and struck out the final batter.

For Mario, a save is when your team prevents the other team from tying or taking the lead with only 3 or less runs ahead of them.

Assuming the game follows the official rules, it SHOULD work (although I have not tested it in-game). Second bullet on the rule: https://www.mlb.com/glossary/standard-stats/save

Definitely seems bugged. I’ve tried this twice now, winning 6-4 and winning 11-3 where I then walked in runs until it was 11-10 and brought in the closer.

The end result screen gave a save (at least for the 6-4, didn’t look for 11-3), but no pop

Edit: looking above it was mentioned to use an MLB team. These games I was either the Beasts or the Boomers.

I shall try again

Alright can confirm, Twins vs Marlins, went into the 9th up 4-0, gave up an inside the park homer, had a runner on second with two outs, brought in the closer for a one pitch ground out and the achievement popped

I’ve done this 5 or 6 times and nothing. I’ve done MLB vs MLB too. No idea what I’m doing wrong. It says save after every attempt but not achievement.

Update - wasn’t using CP. Stupid mistake on my part lol.

Can also confirm this can be done in a 3 inning game. Got it first try while doing the 460ft home run achievement.

I think that, like last year, the player has to be not only in the CP spot in the bullpen but ALSO listed as CP on his card. I just tried it with the Twins and it didn't pop, presumably because Jhoan Duran (their regular closer) is hurt and the replacement in that spot is officially listed as a normal reliever, not a closer.

If anyone is having troubles with this achievement, here's the best way to do it.
DISCLAIMER* In order for your closer to get the save, the opposing team needs to have the opportunity to either win the game or tie the game. So if you score 1 run and go into the bottom of the 3rd (in a 3 inning game) and you strike out the last batter, you will get the achievement.
If you are up 2-0, the opposing team will need at least one player on base otherwise your closer will not be credited for the save. Best way to get the achievement is as follows:

-Be the Home Team
-3 inning game
-Rookie difficulty.

Score 1 run. Bunt low and to the right to get out easily.
Keep the game at 1-0 going into the bottom of the 3rd.
Get two outs and sub in your closer. Get an out and the achievement will pop.

You're welcome! I just tested the method and it worked perfectly. Be sure to have a 1 run lead and you will be good.

The way I got. I was playing on the lowest difficulty, think that’s beginner.

Went 2-0 up.

Final inning as pitcher I got 2 out, loaded the bases then switched to the CP.

Batter hit for a run so was then 2-1 up with the bases loaded.

Managed to strike out the batter then and the achievement popped.

I tried many times with a 3-0 lead and bases loaded but it just wouldn’t pop when I the struck out the batter.

I would definitely add that you need to make sure the pitcher in the CP role in your Rotation has "Closing Pitcher" listed as their position. For some reason I had a Relief Pitcher get put in the CP spot in my rotation. Didn't pop the achievement when I used that pitcher for the save, but worked fine after I fixed my rotation and did it again.

@LG Mybach x - Are you sure it wasn't in extra innings & that you left on the automatic runner on 2nd mechanic (on by default) when setting up the game? If so, you probably didn't even notice the runner. If not, maybe the game is bugged to always assume a runner on 2nd in extra innings even if you turn it off. Or maybe there was yet another rule change I hadn't heard of to let closers get a save if the opponent is within 2 runs...

A save requires a lead of 3 runs or less (or the tying run at bat or on deck, so you can get it in up to a 5-run game if the closer enters with the bases loaded).

@AddictedToBeef - If that was in response to my comment, my example of granting a save within 2 runs was with the given of the bases being empty and the pitcher facing only 1 batter. Unless there was a rule change, on deck batters do not factor into granting a save unless they come to the plate as a natural course of the pitcher getting outs. I think the only way to haven gotten a save with a 5 run lead, to my most recent knowledge, is for the closer to pitch 3 full innings.

I also had trouble getting the achievement to unlock. Do not use “Quick Manage” to make the substitution and instead bring the closer in through Manager > Bullpen > CP > Put in Game

Something not mentioned in the other guides is that Quick Counts must be turned off.

It counts as simulated gameplay so it'll void your achievement!

- Play on rookie
- 3 inning game (MAKE SURE YOU’RE THE HOME TEAM)
- Make sure you have a lead of 3 runs or less
- Bring in your closer with 2 outs on the board

I used the Cubs but use any pitcher you want
