From either the main menu or within career mode, you can customize apparel on your rider.
From the main menu, go to customize -> custom rider -> rider outfit -> (outfit selection)
The cheapest option I see at the current time is under goggles.
Select Goggles -> Pro Grip (default) -> Blue, Orange, White, or Yellow for 5,000 SX credits.
(Clicking on each item itself such as "Pro Grip" gives you more options for color and such.)
Helmets are mostly 50,000 (except Special Components which unlock at high levels)
Goggles go from 5,000 to 20,000
Suits are mostly 40,000 or 50,000
Boots are mostly 30,000
Neck braces are the mostly the second cheapest at 10,000
Butt patches don't seem to have prices.
