Monster Hunter Rise

To unlock the Gold Crown Plaque achievement in Monster Hunter Rise, you'll need to hunt all 43 base game monsters that can have variable sizes and have them be big enough to reward a gold crown. Heads-up: this will be a grind. You can track your progress on the last page of your Guild Card, which will display crowns next to hunted monster sizes for ones you have earned. In High Rank hub quests, the default chance for a large crown is 3% (Low Rank hub quests, Village and Arena fights cannot award large crowns), although certain quests — some Events in particular — can boost the odds, with some only granting a slightly higher chance and others guaranteeing a crown. Note that silver large crowns will not count towards this achievement and are just a frustrating consolation prize!

Formatting options in achievement guides are much more limited than what we can do in actual site articles, so you should check out our Monster Hunter Rise crowns guide for full tables of every quest that can improve large gold crown odds in the base game, as well as quests that will be available in the Sunbreak expansion that up the odds for base game monsters for this achievement. Rise offers 14 special missions which guarantee gold crowns for Aknosom, Apex Apex Arzuros, Apex Diablos, Apex Mizutsune, Apex Rathalos, Apex Rathian, Apex Zinogre, Arzuros, Bishaten, Crimson Glow Valstrax, Diablos, Magnamalo, Rajang, and Tetranadon, plus a an additional one with slightly boosted odds (Almudron), but that still means you would need to farm the other 28 at the base 3% rate in High Rank quests where the monster you need is one of the quest targets.

Nine more Rise monsters have boosted large gold crown rates in Sunbreak's Master Rank quests (Basarios, Bazelgeuse, Goss Harag, Great Wroggi, Khezu, Nargacuga, Rathalos, Tigrex, and Zinogre) all guaranteed gold crowns), so if you plan on playing the expansion, you might want to hold off on grinding for these ones as you'll be able to get them guaranteed in Sunbreak. Master Rank also upgrades the base large gold crown chance from 3% to 10%, so you might want to wait and grind out fights there instead for double the chance at a crown in any non-boosted hunt.

To reiterate, this achievement and its partner one for the mini crowns are a crazy grind and will likely take hundreds of hours alone, although you should easily get all of the progression, completion, and cumulative achievements done on your way to completing your crown collections. Happy hunting!
