How to unlock the Capture Novice achievement in MONSTER HUNTER: WORLD - Definitive Guide

One of the easiest ways of snagging this achievement is to do the optional quest "snatch the snatcher'

This requires hunter rank 3, and will appear under your optional quests.

You'll receive both a trap and a stun grenade for free at the start of the mission. They can be found in the supply chest at Southwest camp.

Once you track the Kulu-Ya-Ku monster, wear him down until he starts to limp ( you'll also receive an audible call out that the monster is ready to capture )

Stand right under the monster, and drop the trap, which will stun it and bring it to the ground. Then use the stun grenade, and the achievement is yours.

It's possible to get the achievement at other times by crafting the traps and stun grenade yourself, but considering you get them for free in this optional quest, you might as well just wait for this.

Mine glitched, I have like 4 captures and it won’t unlock :(. Rank 4 one didn’t either. What’s with this game?

Just an alternative to note as well. It looks like this pops as long as someone in the party does this. I sent out an SOS and someone trapped the pukie pukie (or whatever its called) and it just popped for me

To catch it, you need to beat the monster until it starts limping and running away. A shard will begin to appear on the map near its icon (if it has already been explored normally). Most likely he will run away to sleep.
You need to catch up with him and use one of the traps - a wolf pit or a shock trap (if the monster is not caught in a particular trap, perhaps he is immune to it).
As soon as the creature is trapped, you need to have time to throw 2 sleeping bombs at it (until it gets out).

The Capture quest will be given after completing the story, and the box before the quest will contain the necessary traps, so you shouldn’t bother ahead of time.

You can also use sleep projectiles instead of sleep bombs if you are running with a light or heavy bow weapon

You just need to catch and not kill the monster, this can be done with the help of traps when the monster is weak

Shock Trap:
  • Thunder beetle
  • Trap base
There may be only 1 copy in the inventory.

Sleeping Bomb:
  • Sleeping herb
  • Parafungus
There may be only 8 copies in inventory.

You hit any monster and wait for it to start limping away from you. There will be a shard next to it on the minimap. If it's not there, don't even try to use the trap. Turn on the wild sprint and select a trap in your inventory. You overtake the monster and place it in his straight line. He runs and attacks. He begins to get an electric shock. He stands still and shakes.

Take out the Sleeping Bomb from your inventory and approach the monster right in the face. It can even be close. And when his head is right next to your body, press . The bomb explodes. Definitely throw 2 bombs. The monster will fall and there will be an animation of bubbles near its head, as if it has fallen asleep.

This is the capture of the monster. In this case, you cannot cut the carcass. BUT! If you catch a monster, then the loot at the end of the mission will be better.
