This can be accomplished via co-op online. There should be a tutorial that pops up around the time that you unlock the ability to play online with people, somewhere after you get to the initial base/village/fort right outside of the jungle. Up in one of the top most areas where you can access the quest log/book you should just be able to queue with a friend after you invite them. Its easier to do this sooner than later...the game gets tedious the more you go solo.

An easy way to get this done is by going to the Quest Board, and choosing Join A Quest. Click Responding to SOS flare, and join the lowest rank quest (to make this quicker) and beat/catch the monster. Upon completion you will get the trophy!
