How to unlock the Impregnable Defense achievement in MONSTER HUNTER: WORLD - Definitive Guide
This needs to be 5 different pieces of armor. You will unlock rarity 8 (orange) armor when you unlock 8-star quests in the story which is your first elder dragon fight (unless you find the low rank Kirin which is possible but isn't part of the story). These sets are crafted from elder dragon materials.
You can save your game and buy all the armor pieces and quit to dashboard once the achievement pops if you do not want to set pieces right away, or want to get the harder weapon achievement out of the way before investing in the armor.
You will get plenty of materials grinding the other achievement though, so there isn't really a need to do the reload trick unless you really want an achievement faster.
Palico armor does not count.

How do es the Kirin help with this? I have a full set of Kirin armor and the achievement didn't unlock.

It's the high rank Kirin armor. Kirin is the only elder dragon that has a low rank version and so a low rank armor set. You need to make sure it's the rarity 8 version. The event quest is for the low rank version. It'll help with some things but not all.

Must craft 5 pieces of level 8 armour. Easiest way is to just complete the Witcher quest and forge the full set (under Full Sets in the forge menu) and the trophy will pop immediately. I am not sure if level 9+ armor counts for this.
For this achievement, "highly rare" refers to the Level 8 orange-named armors that you can craft via Elder Dragon parts. Obviously you'll need to wait until later in the game when you can hunt the Elder Dragons to be able to do this. Each dragon has five pieces of armor associated with it, so there are plenty of options to craft for the achievement, as only five are required. You need to kill 50 Elder dragons for another achievement, so you'll have plenty of materials to work with.

It’s worth noting right away that you should take on this trophy after receiving trophies for golden crowns and tracking down simple and hardened monsters. After these trophies, you will already have collected the necessary materials to create sets, if not all, then almost all.
Throughout the game, you'll unlock new armor sets for each monster you hunt, including regular monsters like Jagra or Gajau. After a certain point in the story, you will unlock a high rank armor section that can be used to create alpha and beta versions of each armor set. These armor sets give you better stats compared to previous sets. The main difference between the alpha and beta versions of each armor set is that they may get more decoration slots or have different skill sets, so be sure to do your research on which armor set you want. before you do this.
For this trophy you need to forge five pieces of rarity 8 armor. You can see the rarity of armor by going into a forge and looking at a specific piece of armor and looking in the top right corner for the equipment information.
The rarity 8 armor sets featured in the game are as follows:
Nergigant Armor Set (α/β)
Teostra Armor Set (α/β)
Kushala Armor Set (α/β)
Vaal Khazak Armor Set (α/β)
Xeno'jiiva Armor Set (α/β)
Guild Cross Armor Set (α/β)
Commission armor set (α/β)
Dragon King Armor Set (α)
Note that the Dragon King armor is just an eyepatch, but since you only need to make five pieces of armor, you can simply make the eyepatch and then four other pieces of equipment from any of the other armor sets listed.
With that said, once you decide which armor set you want, you will have to fight the monster that drops the materials for that armor set multiple times or more since some of the items they require may be rare drops. Another problem that may arise is having enough money. Each individual piece costs 16,000 Zeni to craft, with the exception of the Xeno'jiiva armor, which costs 20,000 each, making the total armor set cost 80,000 for other armor sets and 100,000 overall for Xeno'jiiva. The Dragonkings Eyepatch costs 16,000, so you'll have to pay 80,000 Zeni anyway if you decide to make other armor sets separate from Xeno'jiiva. Opting for the Xeno'jiiva headband and armor can save you some money, but only costs 84,000 Zeni.
Once you have made your fifth piece of rarity 8 armor, the trophy will be yours.
