How to unlock the Snuggles for All achievement in MONSTER HUNTER: WORLD - Definitive Guide

Start an expedition to Ancient Forest or Wildspire Waste (camp and daytime does not matter) and check in both areas the non-hostile creatures like Aptonoth and Apceros with your equipped Ghillie Mantle (Important!). Atop of these creatures rides our creature, a bird.

These Birds are a ultra rare spawn! The spawn can anytimes happens and are the birds there you hear a sound! Don't get too close to the birds without the Ghillie Mantle, otherwise they flee!

Any idea on how rare this is? I'm guessing I've been to about 100 different expeditions or missions where I've kept my eye out for the guys and never seen them.

I can confirm that it doesn't have to be expeditions for any of these capture quests. I got the other 3 while on regular missions and ran into these guys on the hr 29 double Bazelgeuse mission. I wasn't prepared so I missed them. I almost got them too.

After accepting the bounty from the endemic researcher for this bird, on my 2nd try I got it in area 1 of Ancient Forest. I just walked up to the aptanoths, turned away and opened my map, waited 20 seconds and then turned around and boom there it was. Not sure if I was insanely lucky or not. There were only two of them on a small aptanoth so they are quite hard to spot.

Can anyone please explain how you actually get that bounty to capture them? Does the chick with the camo gear have to say it’s about all or whatever here at all the sites? I guess I have to get some crab but it has not been storming everytime I go to the wildspire.

I had to search this bird again for the final quest of the Endemic Life Researcher.

My encounter: Wildspire Waste – Nighttime – Expedition – High Rank.

As soon as I traveled to Camp 6 to walk all the way to Area 8 (via left path), I saw the Apceros Trio walk by me – nothing on their backs. I already had the Ghillie Mantle equipped and then I heard chirping as I almost pressed the button to leave the expedition. All the Downy Crake flock had spawn right next to me on top of the third Apceros. I caught them immediately.

Note: The moon icon on the top left showing you the time was blinking at the bottom so it was right at the crack of Dawn. This was my fifth [?] attempt going to the Wildspire stage.

Hope this helps.

It's worth noting that these spawn much more frequently during a Master Rank Event Quest that comes up called Skyward Snipers. It is available as of now as part of the Spring event, between April 9th and May 7th.

In the quest, you are tasked with capturing 5 Grandfather Mantagrells. Sometimes, a Mantagrell will spawn with a flock of these creatures perched on it's back. When you shoot it down, it stuns all of them and you can capture them for the achievement.

Good find! Hands down easiest way. I did the mission twice. First time 1 of the Mantagrells has them on it. The second run 2 of the Mantagrells had them on it.

Could be useful and share information like how to find the mantagrells

For anyone else struggling: Go to top right camp near where legiana spawns and then start climbing up. I was on 2nd Wedge Beetle heading to the top when i saw one with the birds on it's back. One red pit and just dropped down to them to use capture net.

The other solutions are great. I used them. But please note that there is a bounty associated with catching this critter. So save youself a headache and wait until you have the bounty before atempting.

You get the special bounty by speaking to the endemic life girl in each area and catching the requested animal. The Phantom Bird is the final one, you can talk to her in any area.

I just realized you may already have the bounty. Check for catch a phantom bird

Make sure to have the ghillie mantle of course and leave your Palico behind

Go to the 1st area of the ancient forest and don your mantle. Hunker down among the plant eaters and scan the area. If you do not see any Fuzzy birds open your map and sit there for 10 seconds to 1 min then close the map and look around. Rinse and repeat.

The idea is the birds spawn when you are not looking at them.

You're looking for the Downy Crake, a small fluffy bird that rarely spawns riding on top of Aptonoth and Apceros' backs, the best way to find them is to take your Ghillie Mantle and move back and forth between expeditions in the Ancient Forest and the Wildspire Waste until you have a group spawned onto one of the above monsters. They're easily spooked, so the mantle is essential for getting close!

They spawn on the backs of Aptonoth's and Apceros's

Spawn at either
• Ancient Forest (1) or Wildspire Waste (1) and Instantly Equip the Ghilli Mantle and New Launcher
• Go right outside the Camp's and Look on the back of either of the monster's (depending on what camp you started at)
• If there isn't a small gathering of fluffy birds on the back of them, Open your world map and travel to the other camp listed and repeat till you have caught one on the back of them.

Achievement will be awarded upon Catching them and receiving the Points.

This achievement is unlocked by catching a bird in either the Ancient Forest or Wildspire Waste area called the Downy Crake. It can spawn at any time of day. You will need to have unlocked the Ghillie Mantle to capture it, and leave your Palico at camp, as it will run away if you are detected. These birds will spawn on top of the ambient creatures in the area (Aptonoths in Ancient Forest or Apceros in Wildspire Waste), and must be collected with the Capture Net. Go to the spots in the video below with the Ghillie Mantle equipped to check if they have spawned, and continue traveling back and forth until successful.

The key thing is to complete the endemic life researcher bounties quest line, it seems to be vital for them spawning at all.

The bird's name is the Downy Crake, a very rare species of bird that sits on the backs of herbivorous dinosaurs. While I was farming them, I got the impression that the chance of meeting them was very low. Spent 2 days and met only three times during the whole time. I missed them twice because I wasn’t wearing camouflage. If they notice you, they jump off your back and run away in an unknown direction. Camouflage is required!

I spent one mission running from one group to another, but it was unsuccessful. On another mission I killed herbivores in order to meet a new group with chicks, but this did not help either. In the end, I came to the conclusion that the appearance of birds can only depend on the session and I decided to check groups of animals only once, and then change the session.

You can meet herbivores on the backs both in the first location (forest) and in the second (wild mountains). There is one problem left that prevents us from meeting herbivores - predators!

The plan is:
Let's go into the wild. There are 2 flocks of herbivores living there. The first one is at the very beginning, she goes to the lake and grazes. The second flock goes from sector 8 (upper right corner) to sector 6 across the stone bridge (they go around the gap on the right edge through the center, that is, they pass through camp 6 if they are not killed by that time). Your task from the very beginning is to move to camp 6 and from there run along the left side of the camp to sector 8. We check the animals, quickly move to the first camp and run to the main lake, checking the second group of herbivores. After checking, we teleport to camp 6 and activate the task “Thunderstorm of the Wild Mountains” (2 stars) to kill 14 wasps, it is not necessary to kill them, it’s just that this mission will allow us to avoid returning to headquarters and saves time + there are no predators on this mission, which will allow herbivores to calmly live. We check the animals again and cancel the task. We repeat!

If you decide to look for a bird in the forest, then herbivores live there in the initial location and the upper left (8).
When you see herbivores, you need to slow down and listen; if you hear chirping, then it’s time to put on camouflage, otherwise the birds will simply run away from you. I met birds only during the day, I don’t know anything about the night time.

It is best to check the herbivores at the first camp in the second one, and at the moment when they are on the pond, there is a possibility that birds appear on them only on the pond (I saw them there twice). In the case of the group in the desert, I saw birds on them as they crossed the bridge.

I hope my information will help you.

Forest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42VhT0QVeyA
Wilderness: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NV9THm_WTGc

The complexity of the location does not affect the appearance of birds; the game is ruled by great randomness. I met birds on NR and VR.

Indeed, the method of turning away the camera and opening the map, although not the first time, does work. Even if the herbivores are walking across a bridge into the wilderness and not sleeping.

These birds appear in locations only in the Lowest Rank variation. And at night you can also meet them

Sometimes it appears when you are not looking at it. That's how I caught her.
I came to the wilderness of HP, approached the first pack of herbivores, she wasn’t there, turned away, opened the map, turned around and suddenly she was sitting on the farthest one. Maybe that's why they call it a phantom bird.....
Update: It is not necessary to open the map, just put on a robe, turn away and turn the camera away from the herd of herbivores, you will also hear the chirping of the birds when they first appear.

Apparently this is a feature: he also came, turned away, opened the map, and when you turn around, they appear on a bridge in the wilderness

I personally found birds in the VR Wilderness at Night! He moved to the central camp and ran to the place where the herbivores usually lived. They settled down to sleep not far from the bridge. Having run up to them without camouflage, the birds got scared and ran, but the net was ready and it was not difficult for me to catch them) I traveled in the manner described above, it took no more than 15 minutes

I agree with the tip above. I didn’t know what they looked like, I accidentally scared them away from a herbivore and they ran in a crowd. The net was equipped, so I reacted quickly and caught two at once.

If you play Iceborne, there is a task where you are guaranteed to find this bird.
The task is called "Heavenly Arrows", located in the Events section at Master Rank.
In it you need to shoot down and catch 5 flying stingrays.
These birds are guaranteed to be on the back of one of the flying stingrays - a camouflage cover will help you

As it turned out, a simple solution would be, if you have the Iceborne add-on, select the task of the Heavenly Guardians event (RM1) , select camp 12 and wait for the mission to begin (do not forget about the need for camouflage and binoculars ). Upon arrival at camp 12, we take moss and load a crossbow . After which we move to area 14 where centipedes hovering in the air, necessary for the task, will be waiting for us, and often on 1-2 of them there is a flock of birds, which is what we need to achieve. Therefore, we climb to a hill in this area and begin to look for the desired centipede with binoculars . As soon as you find one, wait for it to fly over your position. We put on a camouflage cover and as soon as the centipede is above us, we shoot it down with a crossbow , load the catching net , and as soon as the centipede falls, the flock also lands, and at the first opportunity we catch one of the birds.

I ran for about 4 hours over a couple of days and to no avail until I received the task itself for a rare bird in the first forest.
Next tactics:
Ancient forest of HP, put on camouflage and run to the first herbivores at the watering hole, if there are no birds,
then from this expedition we fly to the Wild Mountains HP (touch pad -> ), the central camp, with camouflage we fly to the bridge (hint above).
Still no bird, right?))

But now we are flying into the first forest, from here, but already in VR - we check, if not, then we fly to Wild Mountains VR, camouflage and to the bridge.
There must be birds 100%. I checked and in 20 minutes - 2 repetitions in total I saw birds twice!! At night on VR.

You need to catch birds that like to sit on the backs of herbivores. Birds live regardless of the day of the day and only on two maps:
Necessarily! Before fishing, you should pull the Camouflage Net over yourself, otherwise the birds will fly away before you can approach them.
