How to unlock the True Miniature Crown Collector achievement in MONSTER HUNTER: WORLD - Definitive Guide

External image
Hi! ⚠️this guide is work in progress⚠️
This achievement requires a lot of patience, a lot of perseverance and even a bit of luck.
To unlock it, you need only (to be verified??) all the mini crowns of Iceborne's Monsters.
In this new DLC, CAPCOM® added 27 monsters: most of them are variants of the basic game, so if you got the old achievement the method is the same.

As mentioned by Gutsy Goddess' guide, the achievement requires you to find also the Deviljho's and Lunastra's crowns, previously added with Title Updates.
Shara Ishvalda has no crowns.
10/10/2019 EDIT: The Rajang's crowns are NOT required for the Achievement.

Monster Hunter: WorldTrue Large Crown CollectorThe True Large Crown Collector achievement in Monster Hunter: World worth 1122 pointsObtain a gold crown for almost every monster in your hunting log.

WHAT ARE THE CROWNS? 👑
The crowns are awarded when you capture or kill exceptionally large or exceptionally small monsters. The Monster's size is noted as an increase or decrease of 25% of normal tonnage. With the addition of the new DLC Iceborne, there are 56 crowns to find (including those of Deviljho and Lunastra): 28 gold mini and 28 gold large. Each monster has 6 possible crown-sizes: 3 mini and 3 large (+ 4 Silver Large Crowns).

Inside the spoiler, below, there is a QUICK LIST, which shows the size of the largest mini crown and the smallest large crown of all monsters.

WHERE CAN I FIND THE CROWNS? 👑
The crowns can be found in any type of mission: Investigations, Optional, Guiding Lands, Expedition, Arena, SOS and Events (cannot be found in Assigned Quest, during the progress of the main story, because those have a standard size).
The best way is to look for Investigations: more restrictions and better rewards = higher chance of finding a Crown of a Monster.
⚠️It is possible that CAPCOM® will release Events, where the probability of obtaining the crowns is much higher than normal.⚠️

HOW TO LOOK FOR THE CROWNS? 👑
The best method is the "Crown Sniping":
• Start the chosen Investigation;
• Check the size of one or more monsters (with the help of a ShockTrap and/or Ghillie Mantle);
Hunt it (Capture it or Kill it), if it convinces you or Abandon Quest, if it doesn't.
⚠️AFTER YOU HUNTED THE MONSTER, DO NOT ABANDON QUEST, IT CANCEL ALL YOU'VE DONE!!! MAKE SURE YOU USE RETURN FROM QUEST⚠️
The hardest thing is to figure out if the monster's size is the right one to get the much-desired crown.

⚠️⚠️⚠️ ADVANCED TIPS ⚠️⚠️⚠️ 👑 !!!VERY IMPORTANT!!!

Below, in detail for each monster, there will be images and videos for help to identify the crown-size monster.

Thanks. In this guide, I will put only the smallest sizes and as you can see in some monster (Nargacuga, Brachydios, Fulgur Anjanath and Namielle) there are already 3 possible crown sizes: in this way each monster has at least 6 dimensions.
The guide will be updated with the reports that are given to me by my friends or by the community. Photos and videos will also be added for easier identification.
If you have any advice on how to improve the guide or crown size not yet entered, it's all very welcome :) Thank you again!

Warning:
For a completely perfect solution, I decided to leave the deviljo for last, because after reading around on the forums a bit, it was rumored that he also counted for the achievement of the mini crowns, so after making my last mini crown of Iceborne or the Yan Garuga, well the goal has not been unlocked so besides the Lunastra also the Deviljo counts for the achievement!

I read that there's a guaranteed small crown Deviljho in the high rank event "The Greatest Jagras" I tried it and got the smallest Deviljho.

Correct. Stygian Zinogre, Rajang, Furious Rajang, Frostfang Barioth, and Fatalis are not needed for the achievement/guild card reward.

Every method you used for crown sniping in the base game apply here.
Since im the first to get it without any available video guide or even text guide on sites i would like to share some tips
.1.many of the monsters are just a variant of the base game . For example crowns for ebony odogaron is the same size as the norma odogaron. Some monsters are diffrent in size. Sheriking legiana is bigger than norma legiana.
2.Nargacuga, tigrex and barioth all have the same body build but the sizes are diffrent. For example a big tigrex is almost the same as a small barioth.
***All base game monsters are required for this achievement. That means you need to earn both crowns for lunastra and norma deviljho.
***All 4 secret unlockable monsters are required . That means u need silver rathalos, gold rathian, scarred yian garuga and brute tigrex.
If you have any more questions plz lemme know in the comments

Alright lol for sure. Everyone who’s been grinding these like PowerPyx already had their crowns so people weren’t sure. Nice that someone can finally confirm this! And also a huge congrats on already having these crowns. Hopefully they release some events soon otherwise I’d go nuts grinding all those monsters. laugh

So you can't really confirm if the original Deviljho counts? I mean, he never appears in Iceborne? Lunastra does though.

Makes sense but since it says all mini crown in your log deviljho should count. Doesnt matter if it is not in mnster hunter. If what you say ia true then you dont need bazelguese either because yoy have seething bazel in dlc and u never fight normal bazel anymore but i am sure it is neeeded

what type of quests did you use for the small crowns? and if it was investigations, what rewards were best?

By Bigboy1173 on 28 Sep 2019 09:08
Yes investigation. If i had 4 gold 1 bronze it was my first choice. If not any other with 2 golds. I dont thibk it really matters because i got my big and small silver rathalos from a 1 gold 1 silver and 3 bronze investigations.

It is needed. Both lunastra and deviljho was added in event. They were not needed for base game but with dlc you need alllllll monsters with crowns for achievements. I have all crowns. If you are not sure about size i took screen shot of all of my crowns on xbox. Check my captures

@SiegfriedX Deviljho was needed for the base game research achievement if u were doing it after they added that monster so it doesn't confirm that he's needed for dlc crowns achievements (he probably is but we can't be sure 100%).

There is an event called Paolumu Lullabies (MR *2) that guarantees a small crown for Nightshade Paolumu. Think this is the first event that guarantees us something. Sadly I already had it the day before :(.

“The greatest Jagras“ event quest gives a guaranteed small crown Deviljho. Good thing, since after sniping and 200 kills I’m convinced other quests just don’t give out the small crown, even though they by trap measurement are at least as small as the one in Greatest Jagras.

Also, Lunastra and DJho are confirmed to be needed. I saved them for last and no achievement without them.

Try the tempered ones? I got both mine from the same tempered quest. If you have trouble killing it i can help you. I dont think i have any high rank quests sadly..

The tempered event quest in HR or tempered MR quest?

By Superflee2 on 11 May 2020 23:28
I got mine in one of its optional quests. “Hot night in the spire” or something like that. It’s easier to measure in wildspire and you got to it faster, imo.

Hr is easier you can take it out in less than 4 minute with MR gears. Not events . It can be investigation

If you don’t have any tempered HR Lunastra quests, you can go for the Arch-tempered HR event one as well.

Original Deviljho counts. This was the last monster I needed for the research achievement. It doesn't even have a master rank level of research and it was needed for this achievement. In my opinion, that pretty much guarantees it will also be needed for the crowns.

By SiegfriedX on 02 Oct 2019 05:51
100% confirmation will only be possible if the last crown from someone that pops the achievement is his crown, as was the case with my research. I would say it's almost sure he will be needed, but I also wouldn't bother with him. It's quick and easy to kill HR monsters alone after you are leveled up, they barely do damage to you and are a lot less aggressive than MR monsters. Just save him and Lunastra for last, unless there's an event to help.

Also, on the topic of the Guiding Lands, I did find 2 or 3 small crowns there, and A TON of silver crowns, to the point where I was starting to believe you could only get small crowns there and not giant gold crowns, even though this makes no sense at all. Considering that you can't select specific monsters to hunt there and they seem stronger than monsters in investigations, I would say it's not worthy hunting there after you're done with the achievements for this part of the game.

tl;dr: All missions (except Assignments) in Iceborne have the same base chance to spawn Crowns. Use MR Arenas while stationed at the Research Base to quickly/efficiently farm the ones you want. If you don’t get the crown, quit out of the game at the result screen to keep the Arena. For monsters that don’t have arenas, use Optional or Event quests for easy access.

Jek and Gutsy’s guides on size are both excellent and helped me out a lot, but I wanted to add a guide on farming the crowns themselves, since there’s a lot of confusion and superstition about what makes them spawn. The consensus that high level investigations yield more crowns always felt off to me, like it was a rabbits foot in the MHW community. Where investigations were the only way to get them in the base game, those that had low rewards always had as much chance as high ones. But in Iceborne as I’m sure most of you know, you can get them in any mission that isn’t a story quest (known as Assignments).

In my experience, Investigations (along with other quests that aren’t Assignments) all have the same base chance to spawn crowns, so that means whatever you can load fastest will be your best bet.

For most of the monsters, the MR Arenas are the best to farm because you can jump in and out of them very quickly, especially if you are stationed at the Research Base. This allows you load between the base and arena quickly, meaning more spawns which, statistically, leads to a faster chance to see a rare crown spawn. The flat ground allows you measure monsters with ease, and the traps and lack of space for them to run means you can kill them faster. These tend to randomly appear once you’ve captured a monster, but you can catch them early if you see them in an SOS. As long you don’t complete these quests, they stay in your log forever. If you do beat them, they come back randomly every 3-4 missions you complete, and stick around for 1-2 missions before disappearing again.

The best way to farm these is to save your game when you have one, and keep loading in and out until you think you might have a size you want. If you don’t get it, at the screen where it shows your ranks and the crown size, DO NOT PRESS A, instead exit out of the game and you’ll keep your Arena.

I got almost all of my crowns this way, except for a few monsters that don’t spawn in them like Elders, Beotodus, Shrieking Legiana, and Scarred Yian. For these, use either Optional Quests or Weekly Events that appear, as those are free chances to check monster sizes without having to grab footprints for investigations.

Here is the calendar to help you see upcoming events to help you plan around farming Monsters that do not appear in Arena.

Good luck guys and please know at the end of the day, this is down to RNG. My guide is for the sole purpose of efficiency. People will always experience different luck. And please do not hesitate to ask me questions or let me know if I’ve left anything out.

That's good information to know. Too bad they didn't update high rank that way for normal Jho.

If you didn't know already, you can at least get his mini crown guaranteed in the HR event 'The Greatest Jagras'.

Currently as of this month they have just added specific crown events here are the following events. I'll update the last one as it gets revealed. Likely they will be put in rotation to repeat as the previous ones.

Symphony of the Coral: Paolumu, Legiana, *Coral Pukei Pukei, *Ebony Odogaron, *Zinogre
Rotten Canzone: Great Girros, Odogaron, *Fulgar Anjanath, *Acidic Glavenus, *Tigrex
Heavy Metal in the Waste: Black Diabolos, *Savage Devijho, *Glavenus, *Nightshade Paolumu, Jyuratodus
Yodeling in the Forest: Anjanath, *Nargacuga, *Yian Garuga, Ratholos, Rajang
Alt Rock Recess: TBD (I'll update this one as soon as it comes out)

Most likely elders will be up to the regular form of hunting fooga described above

Hope this helps and happy hunting!

Even if that’s true, once you factor in loading times and such, is it really that much better? I had a friend who spent 6 hours trying for a Yian in investigations, and then they got it in the arena in an hour. RNG still plays too big of a role for any of the modes to make a significant difference.

Play how you want to play. Like I said this is still RNG. But loading waaaaay more games in the time it would take to load an investigation - in a sense, rolling the dice more - is not bad advice.

I'd fucking love to see some "datamined" information.

Lol seriously. I didn’t ask for him to link it because last time I did that the other guy blew up at me. If anything I never found that info nor did I see anyone mention it on reddit, where I did most of my research and discussion on the crowns.

Type the quest and it gives you the size odds.
MR arena seems to only have a 2% chance of a mini and a 1% chance of a gold large.

Your link actually proved my point, so thank you! Every crown chance is 2% small, 1% large unless it’s a unique quest for a specific monster. So yea, since arenas load super fast it’s a great place to farm them.

Reddit post claiming to have Datamined Crown Rates for High Rank investigations: https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHunterWorld/comments/ab4etb/...

I sadly have not been able to find anyone who has replicated this testing with Master Rank ones, I suspect they're the same, but can't verify that.

Long story short: Good Investigations are noticeably better Crown rates than the base Master Rank rate presuming that the probabilities weren't changed in Master Rank. If that improvement is worth farming Investigations or not is a matter of preferrence, of course. It's worth noting that according to Kiranico the Crown rates for both Big and Small in the Special Crown Event quests is a whopping 12%, which is much better than any competition, and makes getting those Crowns honestly not so bad, so this is really only a consideration for Monsters lacking a Crown event.

How much longer do you spend doing those investigations, though? You have to farm footprints, find the monster, wait until it's on good terrain to measure, etc. I felt like I was able to cycle through 3-4 monsters incredibly quick in the time it would take someone to do 1. And especially now that the Series X is out? It's probably even faster.

I was also doing this with full groups, and we were getting crowns daily. I still got some in regular investigations, and like you said...it's preference, but I really felt like I finished Iceborne's crowns much quicker than I did the base game, and I think it's because this method took most of the busywork out of farming them.

I’m going to have to go ahead and say this is bad advice. Where it is definitely true that you can indeed get gold crowns in Optionals and Event Quests (even the ones that aren’t specifically for crowns), the chances are so low that the most efficient method for farming them is still Investigations and the Guiding Lands.

I opened up the Arena quest for Silverlos probably 50 times with no Large Crown in sight only for me to discover on Kiranico (a Monster Hunter database) that the chances in there are only 1% for a Large Gold Crown. The stats have all been datamined from the PC version of the game.

In fact across all non investigations the chances of getting a small crown is 2%, and a large crown 1%. And this is consistent across all optionals and events that aren’t specifically for crown farms.

I checked the Scarred Yian Garuga event quest close to 50 times too, with no crown in sight. I proceeded to farm for investigations and got the 2 crowns within 2 hours.

I understand that it’s still down to luck, however you’ll move the odds further in your favour continuing to farm investigations.

Hello everyone, for those that want to save time searching for crowns wither small or big, you can choose the next events:

Yodeling in the Forest
Heavy Metal in the Waste
Symphony of the Coral
Rotten Canzone
Ballad of the Hoarfrost

This events have a 100% chance to have at least 1 crown, when I did this events, I managed to obtain between 10 and 15 in a couple of days, here is a clip where after the event I was surprised that I got 3 crowns in a row

This only works with some monsters because this events don't contain elder monsters, those monsters need to be farmed either in other events or investigations.

Dont' know how much time this events are going to stay, so I suggest to hurry up.

Good hunt everyone toast
