How to unlock the Monster killer achievement in Monster Island - Definitive Guide

This is not an achievement you need to grind out as it will come through natural progression as you play. I earned this before I finished the first set of levels, Yellow Jello. I am unsure if monsters that are pushed off count as I wasn't counting.

Keep playing and racking up kills to earn the following achievement:

I just popped this on level 40. I replayed only a couple so I think it should pop about 35 at the earliest.

I just completed the Purple Jam with all stars and still haven't unlocked this achievement. I'm pretty sure I've killed at least 50 monsters while 3 staring all levels on two of the worlds. Has anyone else experienced this glitch and is there a way to fix it?
