How to unlock the Illusionist achievement in Monster Sanctuary - Definitive Guide

As the achievements description states this is for getting a Tanuki egg.

These monsters look like large raccoons and appear in battles by shapes hitting from another monster. Similar to ditto from Pokémon.

You'll only know a monster is a Tanuki once you've initiated a battle with a group of monsters and will otherwise look like the monster it's camouflaged as on the map.

The chance of obtaining an egg is still based on your match not guaranteed as I had previously thought as stated by Wackysplashv2 in the comments.

I found I received an egg after defeating my first Tanuki and with a 1 star win. I assume this is a guaranteed drop as I've yet to receive any eggs from that poor a battle rank.

Not guaranteed at all. Ive only gotten as a drop when i 4star battle vs tanuki, not 3star like i had a few times.

I can also confirm. It is more likely to drop when you get 4, 5, or 6 Stars in the battle but not guaranteed.

I get Tanuki a lot in the Sun Palace, reading around it seems it has a higher chance of appearing there. I've seen quite a few grinding for the keeper duel at the top of the tower, so that might be the place to try if you don't have one by the end of the game.

Tanuki's look like Brown Racoons with a leaf on their head. After the events with Old Buran in the Mountain Path Tanuki will start to spawn in random encounters.  They have a 3% chance to spawn throughout the world and a 15% chance to spawn in the Sun Palace Region.

Once you get lucky and run into a Tanuki you can capture it like any other monster. Try your best to finish the battle as quickly as possible to earn a higher star rating and you should be rewarded with a Tanuki Egg and the trophy. You can also win an egg from a reward box if you are lucky.
