How to unlock the Sugar Rush achievement in Monsters Love Candy - Definitive Guide

Prepare for the grind.

Each level (except for the first level) requires 100xp * current level. So to go from level 12 to level 13 requires 1300xp. (Going from level 1 to level 2 requires only 30xp.) This requires a total of 43,430xp.

You get experience by playing games. A multiplayer match earns 25xp (always). For normal games, you get xp for the following items:
* Stars: 0 = 5xp, 1 = 9xp, 2 = 12xp, 3 = 20xp
* Boost monster: Common = 3, Rare = 7, Legendary = 15, Mythical = 20
* Evolved monsters: Common = 1, Rare = 3, Legendary = 6, Mythical = 10
* 5xp bonus for evolving a monster for the first time.

Hence, a typical game when you're grinding will earn 3 stars evolving a legendary monster using a rare boost monster earns 33xp (20 + 7 + 6).

If you're grinding, you'll want to use the last areas of the worlds (where you are guaranteed a legendary monster). Each game will take about 2 minutes (1 minute for the game; 30sec for the ad to let you replay; and 30sec for other screnes). That's 6 minutes per 100xp or about 1 hour per 1000xp.

Alternatively, you can grind on the early levels in a wave. You earn slightly less xp per round (since you're going to be evolving a common or uncommon monster instead of a legendary) but you don't have to sit through the adds. [Idea courtesy of Chris8875.]

Playing multiplayer matches also has the advantage of not actually having to play the round as you get 25xp no matter what your score. However, sometimes MP matches take a long time to start or don't work at all.

(I've earned almost every other achievement by the time I reached level 12 with about 8000 total xp. That still leaves about 35,000xp left to go or about 35hours.)

I bought the double-coins upgrade (back when I thought it was a good value) so I can make money using Meemo. Jumper is definitely a good alternative if you don't have the coins for Meemo. The Stray Angel boost is definitely the most powerful.

I've been using the multiplayer for xp, but for the last couple weeks, after my first match, it just sits on processing and I have to close the app, and reopen it to get another game in. Then it stops working again after the first multiplayer game. Anyone else having this problem?

Since I don't have the double coin upgrade I can't keep using Meemo without losing money. But using Jumper to grind the last level of forest yields less exp. So instead I have been using the Rare Monster Rosebud. That one has one stray angel and two sugar bombs, which in combination nearly clear the entire field. In average I can get a little more than the 2.8 mil required to have him pay for himself (2800 each round, which is much better than the 4200 Meemo uses.) I'd still use Meemo if I were going for records.

Great rundown Mike. I'd only add one thing - I recommend doing the last 2 levels of the forest world (first world) if grinding for XP, as getting the three star targets in these worlds is easier than doing so in the higher levels of the other worlds (particularly coastline and tundra).

Using Jumper or Meemo will ensure good scores - and if you use Jumper you should be able to make money on each game as long as you pass 1.5 million (which negates the 1500 coin cost to use Jumper).

Progressing through the levels will also nab you purple jewels and gold coins as well.

I'm currently grinding this out on the last level of the forest. I'm getting anywhere from 40-45 per match depending on whether or not I get a Legendary or Mythical monster. I'm at level 20 right now, so I'm going to be grinding this out for a few more days.

Yes, I used Meemo all the way when grinding for this. I also think it is quicker to repeat the lower levels for 28xp than wasting time watching adverts for a few extra points.

campotech - that's a good point about the lower levels. You can repeat them a lot more quickly, and there's only a couple of points difference.

I'm currently level 19 ish, so I'm going to return to boosting it in coming days, and might use the lower levels across all 5 worlds and see how it goes.

I'm actually now using a hybrid method on the boosting.

I start by using Meemo on the higher 4-5 levels of each world, playing each once and earning anything from 33 to 41 xp each time.

Then I drop to using Jumper (or, in some cases, no boost monster at all) and start doing the lower 4-5 levels of each world, earning 25 or so xp each time. Then I can go back and do these levels again without having to watch ads to allow for replays.

The benefit is that you get through the games quickly and without watching any ads across all the levels - maximising the time spent playing and earning xp.

I have been boosting my levels using the multiplayer system. You get 25 xp per match just for playing one. Your score dose not effect how much experience, so you can work on matches while doing other things. Personally I have been boosting Seriously at the same time as I have been working on this achievement.

All I do is set up either a rematch with someone I randomly played with previously. You will get set up in a match quicker than watching a commercial and you might be helping someone else out. Because your score dose not matter I just make a match or two and ignore the rest of the match. This helps boost their wins and sometimes you get a win as well. With luck, you will find people who complete their rematch quickly and send you one back or you can re challenge them after they complete the previous challenge.

If there is not anybody available, I search for a new random player and start a fresh challenge.

Yup, this is how I did it. Works like a charm. Once you've gotten the "win against 50 (or 100?) random opponents" achievement, you'll have plenty of entries in your history to rematch against.

Tip: If your list of outstanding games gets (very) large, you can simply dismiss the current games using the red "X", without impacting the XP you got from the game. This makes the page load a little quicker, and you don't have to scroll down very far to see your finished games.

To clarify your solution: you only need to reach research level 30 (43500 XP), you don't need the additional 3000 XP.

The other guides are very good on explaining how the XP gaining works and providing methods for gaining XP, although they are outdated, as of 2021.

So here's a solution for those who already played the game before it was delisted but are going for this achievement after the game was delisted and multiplayer features were shutted down.

Achievement status
Currently unlockable, as of February, 19th, 2023.

Downloading and installing the game (again)
You won't find the game by simply searching on the Windows Store, as it was delisted a few years ago.

Therefore, you've got two options, assuming you downloaded and installed the game on your Microsoft Account back when it was available:
Edit: If the 'Install/Play' button doesn't appear, keep refreshing the website. As of February, 2023, this is working.

Getting XP
With the game installed, your past progress in the game is saved on the cloud and you can resume from where you stopped.

Since multiplayer doesn't work anymore, you'll need to get XP by playing the regular levels over and over.

Here you have two main options, depending on you have gotten or not the 2X coin multiplier back when the in-game store used to work.

If you don't have the 2X coin multiplier, then you should use JUMPER and make sure you make more than 1.5 million points in each match, otherwise you'll lose coins and won't be able to use Jumper all the time. JUMPER is a rare monster found in the Caves.

If you do have the 2X coin multiplier, then you can alternate between JUMPER and MEEMO or use MEEMO all the time, in which case you must get more than 2.1 million points per match, otherwise you'll lose coins. MEEMO is a legendarey monster found in the Caves as well.

Stay on the first 3 worlds (Forest, Desert, Cave) and play the 5 last stages of each world to give you better chances of facing a legendary monster, so you can earn more XP. To avoid losing coins, specially for those who don't have the 2X coin multiplier, you should also play the early stages of each world.

At last, if you find yourself at later ranks with a huge amount of coins or purple gems, remember you can simply start a match using a high level monster and let it idle. You won't score, but you'll get XP, sometimes more than 20, depending on which monster you are using.

Final note
I must say this is the achievement I'm most ashamed of unlocking. Such a boring, pointless and painful grinding. I'd rather never started this game at all.

Disclaimer: since this is a delisted game, with some discontinued features and the solution relies on store links, the provided solution might not work forever. Any updated news regarding the game download or the achievement status is welcome.

Thanks.

You need to rank up to level 30. Each level up requires 100x your current level (except the first level), so in total you will need roughly 45,000 XP.

You get experience by playing games. A multiplayer match earns 25xp (always). For normal games, you get xp for the following items:

  • Stars: 0 = 5 XP, 1 = 9 XP, 2 = 12 XP, 3 = 20 XP
  • Boost monster: Common = 3 XP, Rare = 7 XP, Legendary = 15 XP, Mythical = 20 XP
  • Evolved monsters: Common = 1 XP, Rare = 3 XP, Legendary = 6 XP, Mythical = 10 XP
  • 5 XP bonus for evolving a monster for the first time.

Thanks to Mike Marcelais on TA for providing a breakdown of the XP system.
After you have gotten all of the other achievements, boosting on multiplayer is the easiest. You are guaranteed 25 XP per game no matter what and do not have to worry about any nasty 30-second ads. Essentially you can just keep starting multiplayer games and making a single match and let the clock run out. This will earn you roughly 25 XP ever 90 seconds, or 1000 XP per hour. This is roughly the same rate that you will earn while repeatedly playing level 15 of Forest to evolve all the Mythical monsters for the "A World Much Sweeter" achievement. At these rates, it will take you a minimum of 45 hours to complete this achievement and the game.
