How to unlock the Sweet Tooth achievement in Monsters Love Candy - Definitive Guide

Update (Oct 2015): It looks like everything is gone again, and has been gone since the end of July. So it's once again discontinued.

Update (September 2014): Everything is back! The achievement is working again.

Update (July 2014): It looks like all of the boosts are gone now. That makes this achievement completely discontinued. Hopefully they'll come back soon.

Update (June 2014): Currently, this achievement is unobtainable for new players. One of the research items (Sugar Bomb) has been removed from the store. If you have already bought that boost, you can buy the other 9 and unlock the achievement, but if you haven't, there is no way to buy it.

(Original solution follows:)
Buying all 10 research items from the store costs 120000 coins and 190 gems.

Coins are easy enough to come by -- earn them by playing games. If you use Jumper, a common monster from the cave with 2 Stray Angel boosts, you can easily make more money than he costs to use.

Gems are the real sticking point. The only free source of gems is leveling up. When you gain a level, you gain gems equal to the next multiple of 5 at or above your level. (So when you reach level 17, you'll get 20 gems.) To get 190 gems requires reaching about level 18 if you don't spend them on anything else.

Be warned that there are a limited number of free gems available. Once you reach level 30, there is no way to get more free gems.

(Alternatively, gems and coins can be bought for real money.)

I just got an update which gave me 60 gems for free (4/17/13). Everyone should check it out. The professor dude gave me the message at the main menu.

I have the same issue. There are only 9 upgrades showing, the upgrade for Sugar Bomb is not listed. Not sure how to fix this, as I also notice the double coin upgrade is not listed in the shop for me anywhere, either. Don't need it now, but when I was working on 3 starring the levels, I kept reading about it and couldn't find it anywhere. Now it makes sense seeing as this achievement "requires" something that isn't even there.

Thanks for updating the solution, I submitted that this and the other were unobtainable last month but haven't heard anything back from TA on it yet, I see its still not marked.

This one is glichted for me and my,wife...(both) have bought 10/10 upgrades...but The progress in,The menu says 9/10...

For a few days last week, leveling up gave me double coins and gems. Not sure why, but it's no longer working. Bummer.

Are these upgrades actually a help to the boosts your monster uses?

The upgrades add to the boost level your monster has. The higher the level of the boost, the fewer candies you have to match (of that color) before you can use the boost so you can use them more often.

I found that if you level up in multiplayer, you get 2X the number of gems. I noticed it once and thought it was a fluke. So, I watched it for the next level up and it was double compared to leveling up in the main game. So, now, when I get close to a new level, I go to multiplayer.

You definitely get double gems for levelling up in a multiplayer game. I have just levelled up from 6 to 7 on multiplayer. The game said the reward was 10 gems but I received 20!

Just a heads up. This didnt unlock for me when i bought them all whilst in the store screen, i had to click back to the main menu for it to unlock.

Same here. I'm at Level 30 with 500,000+ coins and 130 gems. Only 9 upgrades are listed... sugar bomb isn't showing. angry

Yeah, the store is bare. (Not just the boosts, but most of the decorations are gone.) Don't know if this is a sign that they are working on it, or a sign that the problem is festering...

*Requires network connection* In the Store, click on the Utilities tab. You need to purchase the Research L1 upgrades for all 10 of the boosts. In total, this will cost 120,000 coins and 190 purple jewels. Coins can be eared slowly in any game mode, so those will come with time. Jewels however are only earned when you go up a level, or though the Store, where they cost real money. DO NOT spend jewels at all and save them for this achievement. Be careful as the game will try to trick you into spending them on things by shoving a button on your screen to continue a game and such. Each time you level up, you earn the next multiple of 5 that is higher or equal to your level. So when you level up to 8, you earn 10 jewels, but when you reach level 11, you will earn 15 jewels. This means that you will surpass 190 jewels at Research Level 18, if you do not spend any of them on anything else. Also, it should be obvious not to purchase any higher levels for your boosts until you get all 10 of them to L1 (the max is L10 for each).
