How to unlock the Abandoned achievement in Moon Hunters - Definitive Guide
Story-related and therefore unmissable, but for those who are looking to know exactly how to get this, perhaps for a community event, read on.
You will start out your first game in the Outskirts area. Explore if you like, or head straight to the camp area, camp, and end your day. Pick whichever option you like in camp that will complement your chosen character's attributes - attributes are in the top left, and each of the camp options shows you which two stats it will boost (except for cooking, which improves different stats depending on the recipe you create).
On the second day, you will move to the nearby city/town for the Moon Festival. As with the Outskirts, explore the town if you like, or head straight to the leader character (they will be dressed very fancy and easy to spot - what they look like specifically depends on which area you decide to say you're from) and start the Moon Festival. Leave the town after working your way through the post-cutscene dialogue, and pick your next area, doesn't matter which you choose for the purposes of this achievement (not much, anyway). Once you're done with the area, you'll either get the opportunity to choose another area, or you'll camp. If you have to choose another area right away because you chose something like the Solarium, then just go ahead and do that and progress through the next area until you reach a camp. It's not necessary to clear any of the enemies or do any of the activities, you can just bee-line to the camp if you want. The map icon looks like a person standing under a dome (probably supposed to be a tent). After you make your camp choice for the night, you get your bonuses, and you're approached by Sargon, who says that the Sun has destroyed the Moon, blah blah blah. Make whatever dialogue choices you want, and you are then notified that "3 days remain".
Progress through 3 more areas on the map the same way you did the last one, and as you camp on the third night, you're notified that you'll be attacked at dawn. Choose your next area on that day, and when you get there, there won't be anything of note other than a battlefield to move toward. Make your way there, defeat the boss, and as this playthrough ends, you'll earn your achievement for defeating the Sun Cult.
I recommend the Ritualist if you're playing solo and just want to get to the achievement ASAP - she has one ranged attack, one crowd control attack that holds enemies in place and does damage, and a dodge, which makes it fairly simple to keep your distance and pick enemies off. Druid is 2nd, he has a weaker ranged attack, crowd control attack that doesn't damage and slows instead of stops, and no dodge. Witch is semi-ranged and therefore recommended below those two, and last is the Spellblade who will force you to get up close and personal. All are fun to play, but if your goal is to take the shortest route to the achievement, this is my suggested hierarchy.
