In town, there are several orange trees (and a couple large green ones). Attacking these trees will cause them to drop coins, which you can collect. Upon collecting the first coin you cause to drop from a tree, this achievement will unlock.
Note that you must collect coins from the very first tree that drops them for this to unlock. If you drop coins from two trees and collect the coins from the second tree you hit before collecting coins from the first, this will not unlock and you'll need to reload your save (if possible) or start a new game in order to unlock this. This is likely a bug and may be patched later.

This was one of the achievements that glitched on me. I'm guessing the game recorded me meeting the requirements but didn't actually pop the achievement which meant I could no longer get the achievement. To unlock it I had to delete my save files (I did it both in game and through the "Manage game & add-ons" screen) and reinstall the game. Worked first try on my new game.

Hey all, just a quick video showing you what you have to hit and where. First off, the Slime. Just North of the Witches hut that you buy for 500G from the board is the slime. Smack it 42 times and your good.
Up next is the trees, when you hit them they can drop money, and as such you need to make them drop money 100 times. So just keep smacking stuff. Any other questions, just check the video. Hope it helps!

Note that every tree will drop gold but not always on the very first hit. Testing this theory, I hit one tree 28 times before it dropped. Once you've collected coins from a tree, you need to leave the area and return to repopulate it with gold.
While grinding this out, I'd hit each tree up to about 10 times before moving to the next. Overall this is faster than only hitting each tree once before reloading the town.

I popped this one entirely on accident because the teleporter is right in front of a tree and both use/attack are X so I was basically attacking the tree every time I teleported.
