How to unlock the Janitor achievement in Moonlighter - Definitive Guide

This achievement requires killing the 4 main bosses with the broom. These bosses are Golem King (Golem Dungeon), Carnivorous Mutae (Forest Dungeon), Naja (AKA Desert Guardian, Desert Dungeon) and Energy Flux (Tech Dungeon).

You do not need to kill the mini-bosses or the main game boss in Dungeon 5 with the broom for this achievement.

The achievement does have a tracker. Each of the four bosses contribute 25%, so you can keep an eye on the achievement and reload the battle if it doesn't increase for whatever reason.

Companions do attack the bosses. I'm assuming if your companion gets the last hit while you're whittling away at his health with your broom that it wouldn't count. Don't bring companions along to be safe. Feel free to do the majority of the damage and switch to your broom when the boss is almost dead. The entire fight doesn't have to be with your broom, just the killing blow.

I saved this for my second playthrough and coupled it with my speed run. I managed to get the achievement after about 3.5 hours of playtime - leaving ample time to finish Dungeon 5 and get the speed run achievement as well.

Lastly, if you sell your broom you can purchase a new one from "Le Retailer".

Killed 2/4 with the broom and the tracker doesnt count them. Maybe the patched this.

I think I might have killed one with the broom then reloaded to do a perfect kill, Might have to do a speed run after definitely getting all kills with broom

This happened to me as well, tried getting both broom and perfect kills by reloading, first two did broom 2nd, mixed up boss on #3 and did the broom kill 1st. Killed 4th boss with broom, tracker at 75%.

Started another speed run in NG+ broom kills all the way through, unlocked. So it does have to be in the same save, and the broom kill must be the one you save with.

Be careful when fighting Carniverous Mutae, the bushes in the arena cause damage to the boss when it goes over them.

The first time I killed this boss with the Broom it didnt count and I believe a bush claimed my kill lol

I know it would not help much but can anyone confirm if you can enchant the broom without it interfering with this? I am on New Game+ and just leaving a sliver of life on a boss can take many, many hits from the broom just to finish them off.

2022 update: I have done this with the boom not upgraded. So I would have to test if it can be done with the upgraded broom but it has to be done on one playthrough.

I can confirm that you can upgrade the broom. I did 3 of the bosses using the broom maxed out

I killed Carnivorous Mutae and Naja a couple of times with the upgraded broom, it's not counting towards the achievement. Golem King did, though I'm not sure why--I restarted my xbox and waited a couple days, still nothing. Maybe it has something to do with copying saves
Update: I've created a new regular game AND NG+, still won't count for Forest Guardian, so I tried do to it on an alt account to see if the achievement was bugged and it worked?? I tried a power cycle multiple times I don't know what to do anymore, any suggestions or do I need to reset my data 🥲

Estranhamente matei o primeiro boss com a vassoura com uma atualização, contabilizou. depois na planta e com a vassoura com duas atualizações não contabilizou, vou vender ela e tentar novamente com ela sem upgrade e retornarei pra atualizar a galera aqui.

Como mencionei no meu comentário acima fiquei de voltar pra sanar algumas dúvidas. Essa conquista pelo que parece buga em algumas vezes que vc melhora a vassoura. Minha solução foi começar um novo jogo e matar os Boss sem dar upgrade na vassoura, apenas nas armas que usava pra causar bastante dano. uma dica que acredito ser bem útil pra vc fazer isso em apenas uma run junto com a conquista de matar todos os Boss sem levar dano, é você salvar em uma sala antes de cada Boss, para isso é só usar o artefato que faz você voltar a cidade mantendo um portal pra sala anterior( cubo verde). Pois vc pode matar sem tomar dano e aguarda liberar a conquista, liberada vc volta pro menu e da continue, que vc voltara na casa e o portal estará aberto pra enfrentar o Boss novamente e assim poder matar o Boss com a vassoura. Espero que essa minha "pequena" dica ajude mais players no futuro, abraços galera!.

I also had the tracker not go up after killing Carnivorous Mutae w/ the broom. No pet or any other source of damage that could've killed it either. So frustrating perfecting the boss while also getting the final hit with the broom and it doesn't even count roll

I reset my data for the game, but it's alright since I already unlocked all other achievements for the game besides 100% and Janitor. I'm still working on the playthrough, I'll return with an update and let y'all know if it works or not
Update: Clearing my data did work, but now I'm having trouble unlocking the 100% achievement after many power cycles, and not having a computer to access the Win 10 version. This game is annoying

I've killed Naja 3 times with the broom (no helper, no burning or poison effects) and the tracker wont update. I had no problems with the first 2 bosses, and im doing perfect kills first each time. The only difference is i switched from heavy sword to the spear, but i cant see a spear as the main weapon effecting this achievement. Has anyone else had this problem?

edit: after getting home and turning my xbox back on it was updated to the proper number. So if this happens, try that and it should fix it

You get this by killing all the bosses with the broom on the final hit. also now as of a recent update if you should lose or sell your broom you can buy the broom from the retailer shop

Ok so I was doing a material run in Golem dubgeon and boss doesn't reappear after third level. Totally missable if you kill bosses without the broom, could you add it to the solution?

does the last hit mean anything? such as the boss can be damaged any way you want, but the kill shot must be with the broom ?

Yes the boss can be damage any way you want but it MUST be killed with broom on the final hit

A key thing to note with this is that it's only the first 4 bosses. The boss in the 5th dungeon does not count for this.

The achievement should pop on the Energy Flux boss. It did for me. It's possible that this is a bug and they'll patch in the 5th boss, but I doubt it.

You only need to get the final blow with the broom for it to count, I would recommend enchanting your main weapon to the max and un-equipping any pets as they can get the final blow instead.
Upgrading the broom only increases speed so its up to you if its really worth it or not but you'll still probably only need it for the last few hits
As far as my experience, there's no way to track if you were successful or not until the achievement pops on the last boss. Just be sure to restart if you think you miss the broom kill

**Missable and Glitched**
It seems the counter for this resets when you exit the game and/or does not track properly. The work around is to do this all in one session.

You will need to defeat the bosses of each dungeon with the broom that you start out with. You can damage the bosses with any weapon, as it only needs to die by the broom. So when you get the boss down to a small amount of health, switch out your weapon for the broom and finish off the boss. Be careful though, you cannot obtain another broom, so do NOT sell it.

If you end up killing the boss before you are able to finish it off with the broom, you can exit the game and reload, as it will not autosave until you leave the area.

Warning: This trophy currently appears to be bugged. My current theory is that you only get credit if you have NOT upgraded your broom.

This trophy is supposed to unlock by defeating each boss with the broom. You can attack in any way you want so long as the last hit comes from the broom you start the game with. Some people have reported that this trophy only requires you to defeat the first four bosses this way. We are unsure if this is a bug or intentional.

Since you only need to get the killing blow with the broom, this isn't so bad. Be sure to bring it with you whenever you think you're strong enough for a boss. Use your normal weapons to get the boss to about 5-10% health and then switch to the broom to finish it off. Be wary that if you're trying to get this and the "Perfect..." achievements in the same playthrough, this will make it significantly harder since you'll extend the length of the fight due to the low damage of the broom. You only get one shot at each boss during a playthrough unless they decide to patch in some way to resurrect bosses or add a Boss Rush mode of some kind.

If you lose your broom somehow, you can buy another from Le Retailer.

To get the trophy you need to kill each of the 4 bosses (Golem, Mutae, Naha, Energy Flow) using a broom.
To do this, it is enough to apply only the FINAL STRIKE with a broom. Thus, we calmly beat the boss with conventional weapons, and when the boss’s lives reach a minimum, we switch to a broom and finish off.

Before the boss fight, I recommend removing all damage-dealing COMPANIONS (so that they don’t accidentally finish off the boss instead of you) and putting on stronger armor: estimating the number of broom hits to finish off the boss can be difficult. The broom doesn't have to be upgraded; its damage still doesn't increase.

I also recommend combining this trophy with a speed run to get the Gotta Go fast trophy! / Hurry up! .

If the broom was lost after death in the dungeons, then it can be bought again from Le Trader in the shop.

After the first kill, bosses no longer appear in dungeons, so you either need to take a broom with you when the goal of going into a dungeon is to fight the boss and not loot, or postpone it until the second playthrough.
