How to unlock the Perfect Naja achievement in Moonlighter - Definitive Guide
First of all you will need the light armor for a bit of a speed boost. No need to upgrade it. For the weapons you will need the claws (third one in the top row) and the bow (third one in the top row). Both of them upgraded to the max.
Now make your way to the room right before the boss and use the teleporter (the one that you can get back to the donjon) to get back to town. Equip the stuff I mentionnd earlier. Go to bed to save your game and exit to main menu. Copy that save just in case something goes wrong. Better safe than sorry.
The boss comes in 5 parts. The head and 4 balls that makes the tail. You can't damage the head before you defeated the 4 other parts. These balls all have a specific attack which goes as follow:
1st: Shoots 3 lines of fireballs that goes in circles. Pretty easy to deal with
just dodge at the right time
2nd: Shoots 2 blast of fireballs all around it 3 times in a row. This one is a bit
harder to deal with. Dodge too soon and you will get it by the first blast,
too late you will be hit by the second one. Keep in mind that you will
need to dodge 6 times only for this attack.
3rd: Fires seeking fireballs. Keep your distance with these ones as if you get
too close they will chase you down. Enventually they will explode and
shoots fireballs. This attack is by far the most annoying.
4th: Shoots little pool of lava on the ground. Pretty easy to deal with.Just
keep an eye on them because they last a pretty long time.
The boss will also divide and the parts will be bouncing off the walls. Keep an eye on the edges of the screen and be ready to dodge in consequences. During this phase you can switch to your bow and manage to get a few hits.
Also the boss can try to ram into you as if all of the other attacks was not enough.
Now that you know his attacks here is my general strategy.
Right at the start equip the claws and move a bit forward and charge your attack with X. Aim for the third ball. After that keep close to the boss and continue hitting the third ball. You want to take that one out asap. Always keep an eye to his attacks and dodge when required. Try to always keep him in sight so you can see what he throws at you. The head will glow a little and it will spits fire before an attack. Once you have defeated the third ball go for the second one. If you manage to destroy these 2 balls you will have beaten the most difficult part. For the last 2 balls the boss will try to ram into you more often so this is the time to change strategy. The time of the bow has come. Stay away from him but keep him in sight and shoot arrows at him from afar. You can also try to use the claws here but it is a bit more tricky. Once all the balls are destroyed the head will stop moving and you can beat the shit out of him as he will no longer attack you.
If you get hit press start and quit to main menu. Reload and repeat. You have a backup save if something goes wrong.
Hope that helps someone. Keep in mind that even with this strategy it will take many many tries to perfect this boss. I must have tried over 50 times. Just keep at it and eventually you will be skilled AND lucky enough to beat him. Good luck!!
I went for the sword & shield and bow, with full fabric armour, and the emergency health and speed rings (lowering my health beforehand to get the bonus speed and damage).
At the beginning, I ran towards the front ball and attacked all balls as he moved past - this deals big damage to the harder-to-hit balls early on. After this, I attacked whatever I could get near with my sword. After destroying two balls (and getting him down to about 25% health), I only used my bow for the remaining two balls and the head.
When a ball is destroyed, he gets angry and will chase you down (rather than snaking around randomly) whilst still attacking normally (so try to keep a vague idea of how much health each ball has and get ready to run away quick).
In the attack when the balls glow and bounce around:
- if the head wasn't near the edge, I would put my shield up with my back against the wall and hope they didn't bounce at me from the side.
- if the head was near the edge, I would hide behind this and shoot out with the bow (using the head for protection if they came near). This has the advantage of getting the snake angry and running down the timer of him being angry, whilst the balls are still bouncing and he can't move. Not sure if a coincidence, but when I destroyed a ball during this phase, after a small gap, the ball bouncing phase would start again and you could rinse and repeat this strategy.
I would recommend practicing and getting used to his moves without lowering your health first to minimise time quitting the game and restarting - good luck, you'll need it!
Keep in mind I play on Hard. Im not sure what Normal diff does, possibly lower boss health?
-As suggested in comments of other guide: equip Emergency Attack Ring and Wanderers Ring for damage boost. Only part that sucks is having to fall damage yourself to under 20% health.
-If reading in hindsight, DO NOT upgrade the bed. Upgrading the bed gives you shield and extra health which equals more times you have to fall before fight.
-Equip all armor pieces that give speed boost and upgrade them, I upgraded them so I could take a hit without dying. This was so I could quit to main menu instead of dying and having to dashboard quit/restart the game.
-Equip the Barrier Ring when falling it increases fall damage to speed things up
-Weapon: I switched from Claw to Sword, eventually winning with the sword. Not to much difference. Upgrade high as possible.
-USE THE BOW! When the boss does the ricochet move, send out a volley of arrows (safely) the extra damage is vital and you can potentially kill a piece. Funny enough in my vid when he splits the last time with one piece I end up killing it and running around like a dummy waiting for it to come back
-3rd section and 2nd section are top priority. I like to run far away on radial burst as it makes it easy to evade without rolling.
Wasnt keeping track of attempts, but pretty sure it was over 20. Keep at it and youll get it eventually

**Missable**
The Naja is at the end of the Desert Dungeon on the 3rd floor. To get this, you must avoid taking damage. This is missable, as the boss does not respawn after he is defeated. To make this easier, when you arrive at the entrance to the boss, use your Merchant Emblem and go back to town and sleep or run your shop. This will save the game, so if you mess up during the boss fight, you can exit out and reload your game, and you will start from there to try again.
Unlike this other bosses, this one doesn't have a set pattern it follows, so you will have to be mindful of the hints it gives you on what is coming next. The head will start to glow and it will either try and ram you if you're close enough, or if some of the body parts are missing, it will have fire and and smoke come out of it's back side that will damage you. The next part after the head will shoot out a wide arc of spinning fire after it glows, the 2nd part of the body will shoot out fire in all directions multiple times after it glows, the 3rd part of the body will drop fire bats, and the 4th part will drop lava pools. If all of the parts glow at once, then they are about to separate and start moving around the area. The head will stay in place though.
You cannot damage the head until it is the final part left. Continue to attack the body parts and destroy them until the head is left, and then finish off the head.
Naha has 6 attacks, one for each of its parts and one common, while moving around the stage like a snake:
A1 . Releases clots of lava that remain on the floor in the form of puddles - one roll is enough, the easiest attack.
A2 . Releases small lights that will fly behind the player until they are destroyed, or until they explode over time and scatter into 4 parts - for our trophy the most nasty attack, we try to “break” this cell first so that we don’t have to dodge for a long time.
A3 . It fires projectiles around itself with a “screw” - we dodge through the stream, between the rolls there is time to attack.
A4 . Fires shells around itself in a ring 2 times in a row - at close range you need to dodge twice, if you stand far away then just move away to where there are no shells.
A5 . Naha gets angry and launches her cells in an arbitrary direction, which ricochet off the walls and, when they hit a player, injure him - the second nasty attack for the trophy, the trajectory is sometimes quite strange, we dodge the cells as best we can.
A6 . Naha attacks with her head by rushing at the player, either when the player runs in front of her face, or when the player destroys a cell - quite easy to dodge, only if we are not standing close to the head.
I recommend remembering which cell hits with which attack, this will allow you to dodge in time and not waste time to attack. Weapons don't really matter: the Bow can help for ranged attacks during A5 (just don't get carried away), the Greatsword will hit multiple cells at once, but this is a small advantage.
In my playthrough I used armor that gives movement speed + weapon-gloves. The armor made it a little easier to dodge and catch up with Naha, and the gloves simply delivered fairly quick blows.
