How to unlock the Savage! achievement in Moonlighter - Definitive Guide

This is an unnecessarily large amount of enemies to kill. As a point of reference I ran an extremely thorough first playthrough, followed by a quick speed run (totaling two playthroughs) and only had about 5,500 kills. I then started a New Game+ file and by the time I reached the 4th dungeon I was only around 6,300 kills.

However, there is a pretty easy, albeit still time-consuming, way that you can farm this fairly idly. In the tech dungeon there is a chance that you will come across the room in my attached video, which will allow you to just tap A to repeatedly OHKO slimes ad nauseum thanks to the enemy that can re-spawn enemies.

When you've had all that you can take in one sitting, just use a town portal in the adjacent room. This will allow you to return later and farm this across multiple sittings. I as able to get 1,500-2,000 kills an hour while watching Cobra Kai season 2 and mindlessly tapping on the A button to the rhythm of enemies spawning.

As the game doesn't pause when the controller turns off you can let your leaf companion do this while you sleep, leaving it from about 11pm to 7am the next morning it had killed 10700 slimes, no need to mindlessly tap a for hours on end

Good Solution!
You can do this completely idle, all you need to do is line up your pet so that it is directly across from the slime. Then every time the slime respawns your pet will kill it for you. I used the Golem Turret to get the kills for me.

Great tip, it never even crossed my mind to see if pet kills counted towards the achievement!

Yep, they surely count. Thanks for this spot! I used the little leaf holding guy that tossed an air bubble as my attacking pet for this. Sit off to either the left or the right side, right next to the boxes, in line with where the slime spawns, and the little guy will fire off a shot every time.

For some reason, that green guy that spawns when you're in too long didn't show up. Knocked out pretty much 4000 kills in one sitting with the leaf dude.

Excellent solution! +1
If the door is gated (forcing you to kill the summoner before leaving) I wonder whether the game respawns the same enemies after returning from town. Never tested it as I assumed it'd randomly repopulate the room so I used the pendant for a quick save & quit...

Killing the main boss of a dungeon seemed to stop green ghost visits. Although you can still summon him by "stealing" the book in one of the secret room variants.

Confirmed this also works with Cobra Kai season 1.

Thanks for doing the work and confirming this. Wonder how it works with The Boys! laugh

When I 1st found this room the game crashed. Since then randomly I cant press any buttons and need to close the game.
At the beginning I really liked the game but all those crashes and bugs...

Edit: I needed to delete my save file because I couldnt even get progress for the 10k kills achievement.
On another save file everything worked.

Does this room only spawn in NG+? I've never seen that one despite running dozens of tech dungeons. This looks so much smoother than running the golem dungeon ad nauseam.

No, it should spawn on your first playthrough. It isn't exactly common though. I guess it's possible it was removed in a patch since the post, but I doubt they'd do that.

It took me around 40 tries to get it to spawn. My new game + save crashed so I went back to my original and it finally spawn there. Now I can confirm this works with Malcolm in the middle too laugh

Got this achievement in august 2020. Even with the updates, the room still exists and the exploit still works. Its a bit rare, but I found it as the very first room of the first level in the tech dungeon. So I suggest only searching that level, which is faster. Also, dont kill them with the spear. Bring the golem familiar (the blue pot that shoots blue energy). You can position him so he kills enemies as soon as it spawns. Then you can just leave the game on. This does work, you can leave the achievement tracker on and see it very slowly progress.

Totally recommend using the Golem turret familiar over anything else.

the wind tree sprout i found to be the best. It would attack without me needing to do anything, and it always attacked quickly without moving around at all. It consistently averaged 1 kill every 3 seconds (20/min, 1200/hour) so for 5000 kills it took just over 4 hours, that i didnt need to supervise or touch the controller. The golem turret would only attack for me when it moved, which it wouldnt do unless i did. The blade tree sprout wandered too much it became inconsistent.

The Boys proved ineffectual. Oddly enough, still works in 2022 with Beavis and Butt-Head.

I can confirm via Trivium that music works for this as well (used Shogun, The Sin and the Sentence, What the Dead Men Say, and In the Court of the Dragon).

P.S Like AcaelusT achievement tracking completely stopped for me at 57%. I’m not sure if there’s a failsafe for new saves or I just got stupidly lucky but progress had a resync when I reopened the game, mere hours after the tracking broke; had no issues after that.

P.S.S For those wondering why this is suggested when the Wanderer spawns after a short period of time in a floor, it appears he cannot spawn that way in a dungeon that you have defeated the Guardian in.

Wind tree sprout took out the recharger through the wall at one point. If the golem turret is placed just right, it will be aligned with the spawn point and shoot right as they spawn.

If anyone has a PC, use an application that records mouse and keyboard movements to stay afk.
It worked for me but it didn't count the kills in the profile statistics

Still glitched for me. been trying on an off to unlock this but progress remains stuck. I am planning to completely delete all savegames everywhere and start fresh to see if i can get this corrected.

Apr/2021
The glitch can still happen. Progress tracker stuck at 73%. Haven't been able to unlock it yet. Tried hard power cycle and reinstalling game, different savegames, deleting my Xbox profile and reloading it, opening the game on a windows laptop instead of Xbox. Nothing seemed to work.

Update1: Randomly a week later I opened the game again and it was counting kills. I made it to 98% and got stuck again :/
TA let's you see your game stats if you compare your progress with a friend. It says I'm on 16000 kills+. Grrrr

If I find a way I will update my comment.

In the tech dungeon there is a perfect spot where a lightbulb enemy will respawn a small slime the whole time after you kill it.

Here a link to a screenshot of the room:

Sadly you will need to grind quite a bit for this achievement. After getting 1000 kills in each of the four dungeons and getting to the third floor of each ten times, you'll likely still need at least 5000 more kills, if not the full 6000 difference. Simply return to the first dungeon and slaughter everything you see. Be sure to use all the waves of a horde room if you find one to increase your count.

**Glitched**
It seems the counter for this resets when you exit the game and/or does not track properly. The work around is to do this all in one session.

This will take you awhile, as you will have to actually grind for this trophy as you will not complete this naturally throughout the game. You will at least have 4,000 kills by going for the other kill related trophies, so you will have to continue to grind out the rest of the kills. Unfortunately, there is no tracker to look at for how many kills you currently have.

You can grind enemies in the Technological dungeon in the room with the spawn of the slug. Here's a hint . If you don’t want to press the button on the gamepad yourself, you can use the PS 4 Remote Play application and autoclicker.
And it seems that update 1.13 fixed this trophy, because it crashed for me only after installing it.
