How to unlock the Finale achievement in Moonscars - Definitive Guide
This achievement is for beating the final boss in the game Zoran, the Sculptor.
There are two phases and I'm going to recommend that you do exactly the same thing in both, save for dodging different attacks and that is.. Spam Whirlwind Special attack. I will say that I finished this boss on my first attempt, so there may well be nuance to this fight that I missed - so please comment below if you have anything I can add to help others. I happened to have a Spite upgrade active for Healing, which is always welcome, but probably not essential.
Loadout recommendations:
Amulet Stones (not that important tbh).. I used:
1) Fierce Fencer Gemstone (Damage bonus)
2) Dashing Gemstone (Double dash)
3) Slashing Dash / Projectile Protection / Deep Wounds / Witchery Cost / Ichor Regeneration (if you have it)
Special Attack:
Whirlwind
Witcheries:
1) Corrosive Touch
2) N/A - Chain Boulder could be good, free choice otherwise.
The first phase sees you in a room with 5 mirrors–3 on the ground, and 2 in the air. The Sculptor will be floating around, not doing very much. The mirrors on the ground have health bars that you can deplete by damaging them (FYI this will not generate Ichor). "The First One" (the greek looking chap in the blue robe) will show up periodically to heal them, he is our target. Spam him with Whirlwind attacks. I'm not actually sure what the objective is here beyond damaging the mirrors so that the Sculptor shows up. Maybe enemies spawn less when the mirrors are damaged, I honestly couldn't tell.
Whilst you are going about your business various enemies will spawn in at the mirrors. I had Wanda show up a few times, with her tracking vertical root attack. Avoid in the same way you did in the Wanda fight. Hit her with a Special. It only took one attack for her to vanish. Her root attack followed shortly after.
I also had the large claw swiping enemies that appear all over the late game areas. Dispatch with a Special attack or two.
The upper mirrors will fire tracking projectiles at you. You can obviously dash away from them. I found that whilst I was Whirlwinding they tended to miss me anyway.
Eventually once you've depleted the "The First One's" health bar the screen will fade out and you will move in to phase 2.
The Sculptor will now be floating near the ground with an enormous spear above him. He uses this sparingly if you stick around his feet, do not fear. Start Whirlwind attacks immediately. He will re-use the AOE attack from the Red Irma fight, double dash away and go straight back to his feet. He will also spawn arrows at the edges of the screen that fire across at you and at the top of the screen that are pointing to the corners - these will miss you if you just stay at his feet (assuming The Sculptor is reasonably central). The horizontally firing arrows can be jumped over or dashed through. I took loads of hits in this phase and just kept spamming special attacks with the odd dash. Use corrosive touch if you have the Ichor for free poison damage. This phase was done in no time.
Here are game clips I took of my final 60 seconds in each phase, my phase 2 clip includes the end of phase 1..that's how quick this fight was over:
