How to unlock the Inevitable Cruelty achievement in Moonscars - Definitive Guide

The kind doppel appeared for me after leaving the 2nd mirror in The Depths.

When asked if you want to spare the doppel press B and kill her as normal, the achievement will pop immediately after and you can then dashboard and load the game up again which should place you right before the cutscene so you can spare her instead, this leads to the Aid From Yourself achievement later in the game.

Yep cam confirm this works. Kill her the first time then immediately dashboard and reload the game it will spawn you just outside the portal and the dialogue will start again so kill dashboard the spare !

If you fail to kill her, once you respawn (which happens almost instantaneously) you will be locked out of repeating this cutscene to make the choice to spare her. So make sure you kill her!

Alternatively it might be an idea to save at the nearby mirror, then dashboard quit (prompting cloud save upload). Wait a minute.

Then proceed with the above guide. If you fail to kill her etc then open dash (don't quit!) > manage game > saved data > and delete the local (from console) data only.

This will quit the game, and prompt a cloud save download when you next launch - hopefully starting you back at the mirror before the diaglog scene.

I ended up having to do a second playthrough anyway to save Etalag, but if all I had to do was this achievement, it really wouldn't have taken that long to get back to this point to just kill the Doppelganger. If you're planning 2 runs anyway, I'd opt for sparing on the first run.

Completing this achievement will block the Aid from Yourself achievement.
In the Depths location, you will meet a double who will ask you not to kill her. Click , kill and the trophy is yours.
