How to unlock the Test Your Might achievement in Mortal Kombat 1 - Definitive Guide

At the time of writing this I don’t know the exact number of TYM (Test Your Might) Encounters there are, but I’ve went across 20 or so. Most likely you won’t get a repeat on your first TYM. Most likely will be done in invasion since that’s where a bulk of the achievements are. Happy hunting! :)

Just to add, I've done some of the TYM challenges in the towers that show up in invasions and they don't seem to count. Looks like it's just the single TYM spots you can land on in the board.

I can confirm the TYM that appear in towers don’t count towards the achievement. The ones on the maps themselves do as well as ones that appear in random portals do count. My last TYM came in one of those random portals that appear as you travel around the map. They mostly consist of opening various chests but my last one had a TYM.

Invasion Season 2 don't have almost any TYM nodes, it will be difficult for newcomers to do it

I'm almost halfway with season 3 and I've only I got the tutorial TYM. Are there any TYM’s in season 3?

You can find these in the Invasions mode and during Towers, though I'm unclear if the latter counts toward the trophy. There are some encounters during the Story mode, but they do not count.

Scattered in Invasions are some TYM encounters during tower points and even by themselves in the Sun Do Festival Mesa. Clear 5 of these and the trophy will pop.

Something to keep in mind is that some of the TYM challenges are requiring you to meet the strength level between two markers instead of reaching above a certain level. The trick I found best works is to mash the buttons to above the level and then press cn_R2 when your meter is in the right spot. Worked a lot better than trying to press it while it's in the right spot or waiting until the timer runs out.

The best way to unlock this achievement is by playing Invasions mode. There are numerous Test Your Might minigames, and they are signified as little blips on the floor. You have to mash the face buttons (I just pick one and hammer it as fast as I can), and then, when you fill the meter past the little line, you have to press rt.png. After you have completed five of these, the achievement will unlock.
