How to unlock the ARCADE KONQUEROR achievement in Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection - Definitive Guide

Unfortunately the three completion achievements have the possibility of not unlocking. There's no rhyme or reason to it.

So, UMK3. I started with Sektor (who I used to get the animality achv) but used Scorpion for the regular fighters. I was on 'Very Easy' in the settings and picked the Novice tower.

Method: Jump in and spam the HP button for a quick and easy combo. Use your spear/uppercut/jump in/spam HP for more success. It worked for me most of the time but isn't a sure thing.

Motaro seems very vulnerable to jumping kicks. I managed to beat him first go with those and I can't emphasise enough that I'm pretty average at this game.

Shao Kahn is a prick. My tactic, which works eventually, is to jump back to the left side of the screen asap and then crouch WITHOUT blocking. He'll do one of four things.

Hammer: if it hits you, get ready to lose.
Projectile: should go straight over your head. It'll hit blocks tho. So don't do them.
Flying knee: UPPERCUT THAT BASTARD
Shoulder charge: eat a chunk of damage and then uppercut that bastard.

If he mainly does knees, you're lucky. Congrats on the win.

If he mainly does shoulder charges, he'll do more damage than you so you might need to jump in and attack. He's susceptible to the occasional flying kick.

QUICK NOTE: I beat Shao Kahn as Kano (who I believe does more damage than other characters) and the achv still popped.

I laughed when I read your Shao Kahn tactic (cuz I - and probably a lot of others - use that tactic as well).

I found that using Smoke was very useful for me. I'd jump back to the left corner and wait for the uppercut opportunity.

Once I got an uppercut in, if you time Smoke's harpoon for just as Shao Kahn gets up, you can nail the bastige just about every time. I even got one flawless on Kahn using this tactic (mostly because he did the shadow uppercut/flying knee for his first move).

I recommend Smoke instead of Human Smoke or Scorpion because of the 360 controller's notorious habit of making you do the teleport punch when you try to uppercut sometimes.

Hope this helps!

My God. I beat him and it didn't unlock. Talk about my Xbox coming into a close call with my boot. I was using Unmasked Sub-Zero. If you freeze Shao Kahn before he gets up off the ground, he'll stand up into your path and become frozen. You have to be FAST and assume he will run into it, so just freeze away. The freeze+uppercut tactic works, but I'm not sure why it didn't unlock.

Okay, I retried beating it again. This time I unlocked the achievement, but I tried nothing new. I did it the exact same way as last time! Definitely no rhyme or reason as to why this doesn't unlock for some of us.

achievement glitched for me 1st time, i did change character after dying, on my 2nd play through i stuck with 1 character (unmasked sub-zero) and got it that time. unsure whether i was just unlucky 1st time or if switching characters glitches the game. so if you are having trouble this may be a solution for a second run through! reports are that UMK3 is the biggest cause for glitching on its indiviual ach and for causing 'THE CHOSEN ONE' to also glitch!

Holy crap Shao Khan was hard. I kept getting unlucky when he would do his flying knee attack as my character would love to change direction with no reason causing me to miss.

So I did a little modification using Scorpion. Do the strategy as normal, but once you're able to land an uppercut, quickly hit back, back, A to use his spear attack which if it hits should grant you an other uppercut. He does block it occasionally however so you don't want to get to crazy. I find if I speared him once and got an ok lead on him, it was usually enough to just go back to the uppercut in the corner strategy. Spearing him a second time for good measure isn't a bad idea though.

I tried your method probably 20 matches before I went back to just trying to freeze him before he stands as sub-zero. After some practice the sub-zero method worked. Your method isn't flawed, I was just completely unlucky and every match was pure shoulder charges. Oh well.

You motaro method doesn't work. That or this game has been patched to punish those who rely on jump kicks. He will fucking annihilate you in seconds with his grabs and fireballs.

Alot of people have different tactics to figuring this game out but i use the same one every time. All you need to do is win, then lose, then win, then lose, then win. The game scales its difficulty depending on how many characters you beat. For example, if you win 5 straight rounds, it will be impossible to beat the endurance round, but if you win round one, then lose, then win, then lose, then win, you should have no problem getting to Kahn.

Kahn is simple if you use unmasked sub zero and keep freezing, then uppercutting. If you miss or he blocks immediately jump backwards and freeze again. Timing takes practice, but i can beat him my first try this way and i just beat the whole ladder in under 20 mins.

Your logic sucks. even if you win one lose one its not gonna be a free ride to the top. after the third person it just gets tough. either be good or spam and get lucky.

I have literally never been able to beat Motaro on my first try.... especially in the standalone xbla version of UMK3, it would take me countless hours trying to beat him, but he was a breeze with this method.

Shao Kahn as usual took me a couple of tries to get my freezing timing down in order to finish him off, but no real issue with him.

To make things easier on yourself, set the difficulty to "Very Easy" and play the Novice ladder.
The easiest way to make it through Mortal Kombat 3 is to use a character that immobilizes enemies and sets them up for a larger hit. I suggest working through the lower ranks with Sub-Zero or Scorpion.
With Sub-Zero, you basically just freeze everyone then try to get in close and do either an uppercut or a combo.
With Scorpion, you should use his grappling spear and uppercut combination.
If you find yourself dying a lot on an enemy, just keep trying as they randomly become super easy.
For Motaro constantly jump over him and punch him a few times with the X, then repeat. If he starts to block that, make him chase after you and hit him with jump kicks, but concentrate most of the fight on jumping over him and punching, as that will stop most of his moves. Motaro is impervious to projectile attacks.
For Shao Kahn, use Scorpion. Block or duck under his first attack, then use the spear and uppercut combo. Once you've hit him with that, run (LB) and hit him twice with the A punch. Then spear and uppercut him.
Continue to run, double punch, spear, and uppercut for the rest of the match. You should beat him within a few tries like this.
As of this writing, the game is glitched, and the achievement may not pop on the first playthrough. I did three playthroughs before mine popped. The achievement will pop as soon as you do the winning hit on Shao Kahn.

+1 still a great guide. I beat Motaro double flawless first go & Khan took 4 attempts before I double flawless'd him too. I had trouble getting my timing right doing the punches then spear, but worked perfect once I did. Thanks!

I also used part of Jagermiester's guide of winning, then losing, right up until Motaro. Not 100% sure if that actually helped or not but figured it wouldn't hurt to do.

I did not encounter any glitches so hopefully they have fixed them.

Thanks!!!

Great solution! I used Scorpion against Shao Kahn and after landing an initial spear/uppercut, I ran in and threw two quick low punches right when he got up (which he blocked) and then immediately threw another spear to catch him right as separation occurred. Rinse, repeat and the achievement was mine. For those who are struggling, this does take some practice and isn't a give-me. Thanks!

Before starting you should turn the difficulty down to very easy. I personally haven’t noticed any difference in any of the difficulties, but it allows you yo play the novice ladder which has the least combatants.

It is also worth noting that this achievement is glitched and may not always unlock. I beat the entire ladder and the achievement failed to unlock. There is a patch on the way though.

Kitana – For this fight I chose Scorpion. As soon as the fight begun I used his spear attack (Away, Away, A) and then used the uppercut attack (Down + X) while she was stunned. Keep spamming this attack and you will kill them in no time at all. If you want to you can also jump kick her while she is getting up to do some more damage, but sometimes it can go wrong.
If you time this perfectly then you can catch them with the spear as soon as they get back onto their feet, so they will not be able to do any damage to you.

Smoke - For this I used exactly the same method I used to defeat Kitana.
One thing to look out for though is Smoke’s teleport attack. Both of the times I fought him he spammed this attack. This is why you should try to time your spear attack perfectly, so he won’t be able to get a chance to attack you. If he does this attack though, jump away and try to hit him quickly with the spear attack.

Liu Kang – Use the same method I used for the other two, but I recommend jump-kicking him after you use the uppercut. You want to try and kill him quickly because the AI will use a low fireball every time you use a spear attack if you use the spear too much.

Jade – For this fight I had to use Sub-Zero. As soon as the round starts use the freeze attack (Down, Forwards + A) and then used the uppercut attack. After that I jumped as for back away from her as I could get and then repeated.
It’s worth noting that trying to get in a jump kick as she is getting back up is a bad idea. If she does start attacking you then jump away from her has far as possible and resume with the freeze, uppercut combo.

Sheeva – This one was a little trickier. I was able to do this with Sub-Zero, but I couldn’t rely on the same method that I used for Jade. Most fo the time I tried to use a projectile attack from various characters she used the stop attack (I don’t know the real name of the attack.), so found a technique that works most of the time, but only just.
II started by jumping back and getting a good distance from her. When she was standing still I kept using a jump-kick and when she blocked the kick I used a sweep and then jumped backwards again. I was sometimes able to get in a freeze attack so I could uppercut and jump kick her, but I only did it once each round before she started using the stop attack on me.

Endurance (Liu Kang & Smoke)
Liu Kang – Simple enough, I just used the same method I used to beat him last time.
Smoke – This one can be little more difficult. Sometimes Smoke would keep using the teleport attack every time I used my spear, but other times the spear would hit him every time.
If he keeps teleporting just let him kill you and restart the fight until you can keep landing successful spear attacks.

Motaro – This one will require practice because Motaro is immune to Scorpion’s spear attack and Sub-Zero’s freeze attack.
Anyway, the character that I chose for this fight was Shang Tsung. I just kept using jump kicks and uppercuts when I could. Don’t try to get in too many attacks too quick, because if he blocks your attack he will take a good 1/3 of your health away. As I said before though, the key to beating this is practice and patience.

Shao Kahn – This one was so annoying I had to use the internet for help. The video below perfectly explains how I did it.

I just beat the other umk3 like twenty minutes ago and this is how I beat motoro and shao Khan .

For shao Khan pick any character I prefer kitana ( I think she's faster ) at the beginning of the fight walk backwards if he slides you upper cut him if he throws a fire duck put keep going back . If you can get him with an upper cut you can get him stuck in a loop of you uppercuting him and sprinting at him and uppercuting him again keep doing this I beat him in less than five trys like this.

For motaro I followed this guide I didn't film it .
How ever what I did was jump him throw a high punch combo jump him and kept doing that I beat him second try with Sonya I meant to use reptile but my stick jumped .

I tried pretty much every tactic listed against Shao Khan but just could not do it, then I found the following tactic posted by MurdaMessiah666 over at x360a and it works perfectly.

- Use Liu Kang.
- Throw low fireballs (F,F,A) until he jumps at you (which he will almost always do with the first fireball but be ready to toss another one in case he doesn't).
- Immediately uppercut and hope he doesn't block it.
- Toss another fireball right away, even if he hasn't even properly landed yet. The cheating bastard will still dodge it by jumping over it, even if he's supposed to be down for a bit.

Repeat this over and over until he goes down. It'll take a few tries because of all the variables, but I feel like this is the most low-effort and least frustrating way to do it.

After waisting 3 hours trying every other strategys, i found Another way to béat shao khan.
Use smoke, try to go the left corner (i dont know why but he seems a bit less agressive when you're in the left corner) and use his kunai/spear move (back, back, lp) and uppercut him right after (down, HP) then repeat thé sequence.
If he blocks you in the corner, uppercut him.
With some luck, you'll counter him like that 1or 2 times in the match.
And again with some luck, he won't spam you with fireballs, the kunai move gives a good counter against shao khan's ground charging move but not against fireballs.
And if he does the air charging move, block it then uppercut him.
This strategy worked for but that dont means it's the easiest, if you négative vote, explain why.
Hope this helps, good luck everyone and when you'll sée shao khan, uppercut his ass for me ;)

Select Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 from the main menu and fight your way up the ladder until you've defeated all kombatants. Shao Khan is the final boss.

TIPS:
The Sub-Zero method works again here. Just freeze your opponent in place () then uppercut repeatedly. This does NOT work on Jade however as she can become invincible through projectiles.

Most of the cast can also be defeated easily with Sektor. Jump into them and then in the air, input his move to do the teleport uppercut. You'll usually hit them as they won't be blocking (because you jumped) and you can kick them on the way down (time it right).

Motaro: Probably the easiest of all the bosses across the games, it doesn't matter who you go here as special moves are mostly useless and too slow. Here's how I did it: Jump back from him and he will jump towards you. As his jump is so slow and awkward, you can quickly jump forward and kick him in the face. Then repeat jumping back and jumping forward to catch him off guard. He is VERY vulnerable in the air. Don't get too close though as his grab has great reach.

Shao Khan: Sub-Zero freeze method again works a treat. Make sure you freeze Shao Khan just as gets up. He's so big that you'll be able to uppercut him from his half stance.

Complete Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. To make this as quick as possible pick Novice after selecting your character, this will give you only 8 matches to go thru. Again, you want to continue with the jump kicks and sweeps (+). Raiden is not in UMK3 so no Superman move to easily get thru the matches. I recommend using Cyrax and his Green Net (, , ) which will capture and pull the opponent towards you. Follow this with an uppercut (+) and repeat. Or just after the uppercut, run towards the opponent and do another uppercut just as they get up much like the Shao Kahn video below.

Also noteworthy: Sheeva has Teleport Stomp (, ), but be careful as the opponent likes to run away just as you teleport.
And Kabal has Web Spin (, , ) which wraps the opponent in a web for a short while. I don't recommend this move as much as Cyrax's Green Net because if the opponent blocks it, it leaves you defenseless long enough for them to start a combo on you.

Battling Motaro: Projectiles and the special moves listed above will not work. I managed to get past Motaro by jumping around and kicking. Another tactic is using Shang Tsung. As the fight starts immediately jump in place. As you're about to hit the ground press and when you land hit , . Then all you have to do is keep jumping over him hitting right before you land and hitting , right after you land.

Credit goes to ninjagrinder

Battling Shao Khan: At the start of the match hold run () and down. Wait for Shao Kahn to do that dashing move in the air and press to uppercut him. IMMEDIATELY run forward, and perform an uppercut again (, ). If you miss just wait there, chances are he will do the air dash move again. If the timing is right, you can continue to do this for an easy victory.
