How to unlock the Royalty achievement in Mortal Kombat X - Definitive Guide

King of the Hill is an online mode, so you have to go to:

"Online" - "King of the Hill" - "Classic".

Then you can either search for a public match or play together with a friend in a private match.
It doesnt matter which one you pick, just win 5 matches in either public or private and the achievement is yours.
But keep in mind, that playing a private match with only one buddy will not allow you to give respect points, as only the crowd and not the fighters can award those.

Does this have to be done in a single room?

Tried in Private and it does not unlock. Is this only unlocking in private on Xbox?

I tried it in a private match back when I wrote the solution and that counted, so it should be working.

EDIT: It appears that playing in a Private Match does NOT work anymore. Tried boosting with someone and it did not unlock after 5 match wins.

King of the Hill is an online mode, so you have to go to:

"Online" - "Rooms" then press cn_S to Create a Room. Name it something innocuous like TT KOTH so your friends will recognize it's yours. Alternatively, you can simply enter an empty room with a friend and proceed from there.

Once you're all in, highlight a friend and press cn_X and highlight KOTH. Press cn_X again and press cn_L1 or cn_R1 to add or remove slots to the amount of people you're hosting. Once done, press cn_start and you'll begin.

This can also tie in with Respected Fighter as you'll give each other respect points and that only works in public matches:

You can begin taking turns, or just do 5 in a row and then switch. Not too difficult. If a random joins, you can back out and go into a different room that's empty or create another.

King of the Hill is a 'winner stays on' online game mode. To unlock this achievement, you need to win five KotH matches. They don't have to be in a row or even in the same room. As soon as you have won your fifth match the achievement will unlock.

Alternatively, this achievement can be boosted with two players, from the Online menu choose Rooms. In the next screen you can press to create your own room, restrict the room to two players, change the matchmaking to KoTH and tell your boosting partner to join you. From here you just need to trade off five wins each to both unlock the achievement. If you do not have any friends who own the game you can find people to play with HERE.

NOTE: This achievement can not be unlocked in Private matches, you must create your room in the way shown above for this to work.

Winning 5 matches in Klassic KOTH trophies are easily boostable with just one friend. From the Online main menu, go to King of the Hill option and select Klassic, Player Match. Here, you can create a room and tell your friend to join, trade 5 wins each to gain the trophy. Private Matches don't works for this trophy. Thanks to Darkknight1992 and WVG for the confirmation.

Important: Bear in mind that the servers are Region Locked so you can't boost with players in another region in the world i.e. US and EU. They have separated rooms in the game so you want to ask for help just with players in your same region.

If you need to ask for help go to the Boosting Thread.

You can work at the same time with Respected Fighter trophy to save time, but this will require at least 3 players in the same Player Match room.

The trophy will only be protected if you created a test (entered it) inside a room. Private matches do not count.

The trophy is cumulative.

Don't be afraid to lose - no one expects you to have a perfect series of victories.

you can create a room yourself and quickly forget it together, if someone comes in, recreate it and that’s it
