How to unlock the The Kollector achievement in Mortal Kombat X - Definitive Guide
1) 9 (UPDATE: I found TWO more, making 11) of them are in predetermined (unmoving) locations in the Krypt, but you'll first need all of the character artifacts to travel to the necessary locations (guide below). UPDATE AGAIN: 1 more added (thanks Sorlondo!)
2) The majority you'll get by completing... sorry, KOMpleting Hourly Living Towers, upon kompletion of a tower you'll receive the modifier used for the tower as a reward (IF it's unlockable, MOST of them are, guide below).
3) Again in the Krypt, there are 4 that can be unlocked by gambling at the Shrine of the Dead in the Dead Woods Cemetery (guide below).
~~ First 12(?) In the Krypt ~~
1) Get all the character artifacts, they're objects in the Krypt environment you can pick up, located at the Krypt coordinates below:
Graveyard (start)
(-13,19) Scorpions Spear
(-21,20) Sub Zero's Iceball
Spider Cave (3,9)
(5,11) Raiden's Staff
(-7,12) Kung Lao's Hat
(18,10) Spider Gem (open the cavern at (14,14) first, thanks fighterx93chipp)
(6,30) Reptiles Claw
(22,34) Kotal Khan's Sword
(5,40) Kenshi's Sword
Shao Khan's Temple (-2,18)
(0,6) Liu Kang's Fireball
(-5,18) Ermac's Medallion
(0,12) Jax's Rocket Launcher
Now with Jax's Rocket Launcher you can blow the gate to the Shrine of the Dead at (-11, 13) in the Dead Woods Cemetery, go there and bet 10,000 koins to receive the last artifact, the Kamidogu (I've heard there's a chance you can win it with less by gambling normally but that's unverified, and would probably take more than 10,000 koins by the time you're done).
2) Go get the actual modifiers, located at the Krypt coordinates below:
Graveyard (start)
(2,10) Danger
(-5,9) Tilting World
(-4,19) Quick uppercut Recovery
(-7,21) Double Damage
(-19,16) Wrestling Kombat
(-22,8) Inverted Blocking
Spider Cave (3,9)
*NEW* (12,5) at 4:16ish on the clock (secret chest) - Klose Kombat
Shao Khan's Temple (-2,18)
(-1,13) Hand to Hand
*NEW* (7,10) No Turtles
Lost Mausoleum (enter from Shao Khan's Temple at (0,19) after 7 on the clock)
(5,-3) Gift of Reflect Armor
Netherrealm (-23,18)
(1,4) Bag of Tricks
White Lotus Temple (thanks Sorlondo)
*NEW* (-19,2) at about 1:00 on the clock (secret chest) - Turbo Kombat
~~ Next 39+ for Completing Hourly Living Towers ~~
From the main menu choose One Player > Towers > Living Towers. Highlight the Hourly one (5 opponents) and you can get information about the modifier on the bottom left, but after selecting your character you'll see the actual name and icon for the modifier on the bottom right, which is information you'll need to check 1) if you already have the modifier and 2) if it's even unlockable (most are). Unfortunately the only way to check is to go into Two Player > Kustom Kombat and log in a second controller to choose 2 characters and get to the "Choose Your Modifiers" screen. From there you can select a mod slot and see if the mod is unlockable and whether you have it or not (some have several variations that look similar so it's always good to check). If it exists and you need it just back out and complete the tower and you'll get that modifier as a reward. Might sound annoying but it's really not that bad, you could get all you need in 1 week or weekend if you just check back every hour and take the 15 minutes to complete a tower when needed.
TIP: if there's a tower with a mod you need but you don't have time to play, just start the tower and pause it when the fight loads, you can finish the tower whenever and still get the mod.
~~ Last 4 for Gambling at the Shrine of the Dead ~~
The Shrine of the Dead is located at (-11,13) in the Dead Woods Cemetery, and you'll first need Jax's Rocket Launcher to blow open the gate at the top of the stairs (see above). Once inside you can gamble anything between 500 and 10,000 koins to receive semi-random prizes. So far I've only heard of 4 Kombat Modifiers that can be won here:
- X-Rays Disabled
- X-Ray Instakill
- Moon Boots
- Overpowered
And that's out of at least 100 possible items, so your odds aren't great (that's why the Hourly Tower is a better bet). Word is that odds and item quality improve at 1100, 2100, and 3100 koins bet (4100 unconfirmed). There's also a chance you'll win koins, and supposedly once you exhaust all winnable items at any koin level you'll start to only win koins. I've spent about 125,000 koins so far and won 3 of the 4, all at the 2100 koin level. I never won a modifier with 1100 koins, so it's safe to assume all 4 can be had at the 2100 koin level, but I have yet to bet 3100 koins (your odds may increase, I can't say).
UPDATE: thanks to zedgehog for this gambling method (see first comment): start at 500 koins until that starts giving koins, move up to the next amount until that starts giving koins, and so on until you're out of koins. I haven't unlocked everything in the krypt yet, and I had already won a bunch of items from the shrine, but I tried this method and got the last modifier when I got up to betting 1500 koins, so I'd guess the other 3 are available at that level too. I can say that whenever I got koins for the first time I moved my bet up one click and always got an item, but that doesn't necessarily mean you're completely out of items at the lower koin level, just that your odds for getting them are now much lower.
UPDATE 2: thanks to harajuka and LIGHTSW0RN on this, it's worth noting that spending the $19.99 to unlock everything in the Krypt also unlocks the items you can win by gambling, including the mods.
1. From the krypt. These can be found in the purchasable tombs and statues.
2. From completing hourly towers. All hourly towers have a modifier and when you complete the tower you are awarded with that modifier.
These are the only ways I know how to obtain these.
There are 105 modifiers in the game so far (you start with 15 but they don't count towards the achievement, thanks Arcane Insanity), and here are the three ways to unlock them (in order of effectiveness):
1) 9 (UPDATE: I found TWO more, making 11) of them are in predetermined (unmoving) locations in the Krypt, but you'll first need all of the character artifacts to travel to the necessary locations (guide below).
2) The majority you'll get by completing... sorry, KOMpleting Hourly Living Towers, upon kompletion of a tower you'll receive the modifier used for the tower as a reward (IF it's unlockable, MOST of them are, guide below).

UPDATE 2: It's worth noting that spending the $19.99 to unlock everything in the Krypt also unlocks the items you can win by gambling, including the mods.
The reason for this is that you start with 15 already unlocked, as mentioned above, but there was a further 6 modifiers added that came unlocked as parts of the Mortal Kombat XL game update, which raised the number of free and already unlocked modifiers to 21, none of which count.
So you need to unlock 50 kombat modifiers on top of those 21, or 71 in total.
There's plenty of information on where and how to unlock modifiers, but I will also add that you can check the current number of modifiers you have if you have a second controller handy. All you do is select two player, then choose kustom kombat, lock in a character and specialty for each player, then you will be taken to a screen where you can add custom modifiers. Simply click on one, and count the number of available/unlocked modifiers to know how many you currently have, and work out how many you still need.
Hope that helps someone out there. :)
Kustom Kombat Modifiers are used in the Kustom Matches. You begin with 15 already unlocked so if you are keeping track you will need to be up to 65 before the achievement will unlock. In total there are 105 modifiers and they can be unlocked in a few different ways. Unfortunately these are mostly luck based so if you are struck down by the vengeful RNG gods you could still be working on this achievement after everything else is done and dusted. First thing you will want to do is collect the 9 static modifiers from the Krypt. To collect all of them you will also need to collect all the artifacts spread out around the Krypt. The locations of the artifacts are shown below:
Graveyard (Outdoor area)
Scorpions Spear (-13,19)
Sub Zero's Iceball (-21,20)
Spider Cave (3,9)
Raiden's Staff (5,11)
Kung Lao's Hat (-7,12)
Spider Gem (18,10)
Reptiles Claw (6,30)
Kotal Khan's Sword (22,34)
Kenshi's Sword (5,40)
Shao Khan's Temple (-2,18)
Liu Kang's Fireball (0,6)
Ermac's Medallion (-5,18)
Jax's Rocket Launcher (0,12)
To acquire the final item that will allow you to access the Netherrealm, you need to head to the shrine at (-11,13). Make a maximum bet of 10,000 coins and you will receive the Kamidogu. Once your shopping trip is done, you will have access to all 9 modifiers located in the Krypt. The locations of these are shown below:
Graveyard (Outdoor Area)
Danger (2,10)
Tilting World (-5,9)
Quick uppercut Recovery (-4,19)
Double Damage (-7,21)
Wrestling Kombat (-19,16)
Inverted Blocking (-22,8)
Shao Khan's Temple (-2,18)
Hand to Hand (-1,13)
Lost Mausoleum (accessed from Shao Khan's Temple at (0,19) after 7 on the Krypt clock)
Gift of Reflect Armor (5,-3)
Netherrealm (-23,18)
Bag of Tricks (1,4)
Now that the easy part is out of the way, it's time to get the remaining 41 modifiers needed for the achievement. There are two ways we can do this, both unfortunately require a fair amount of luck. The first option which is recommended because it has a much better chance of awarding modifiers but again isn't guaranteed, is to farm the hourly Living Towers. Each of these will have a modifier active and once you complete the tower you should be awarded with said modifier. There are two problems with this, the first is that you need a tower to come up that has an active modifier you don't already have, the second problem is that there are some modifiers used in Living Towers that you aren't able to obtain; 'Alive' is an example of this, so it's not as simple as just completing 41 different towers.
The other option is to gamble your Koins away at the shrine. There is no guarantee that you will get a modifier regardless of the amount of Koins you bet but the higher you bet the higher the probability you will get a better reward like a modifier. A good way to farm Koins is to use the same method we used to grind out our FXP but equip your Kombat Kard with items that offer bonus Koins, the best of which is unlocked after reaching level 50 with all factions. Then just grind out matches using the quick brutality finish. The optimal method is to combine the two, it will take you 15-20 minutes to complete an hourly living tower, you can then spend the rest of your time farming Koins while you wait for the next tower. Rinse and repeat. As soon as you finally collect your 50th modifier the achievement will unlock.

Ferra/Torr - (Close)
D'Vorah - (Close)
Raiden - (Close)
Quan Chi - (Close)
Once you have completed the last fatality the achievement will unlock. Remember to keep track of your progress using the checklist (PDF, Numbers, Excel).
There are 126 different modifiers in the game and almost all of them are locked. For this trophy you need to unlock 71 of the locked modifiers but 21 mods are unlocked from the beginning on so you need to find 51 more.
You can check your mods in the main menu by selecting Two Player option, Kustom Kombat. Turn on your 2nd controller and choose characters for both players, then you can see a list of all your modifiers.
If you don't have a second controller, you can tell if you've already completed the current Hourly Tower with whatever modifier is active. In the bottom left hand corner, it tells your personal best and rank all time for that tower with that specific modifier. The stats will show your best score and rank all time for that Hourly Tower and the modifier related. (Thanks to philliesphanboy for the tip).
There are two ways to unlock the modifiers:
- From the Krypt: 9 of the modifiers have fixed locations in the Krypt. Additional mods can be found in randomly appearing chests and by gambling at the lottery statue (requires Jax's Rocket Launcher to get access). When using the lottery statue, you should always put in 5,100 coins. This has the highest chance of giving you a modifier, but it's still very random. You should make a backup of your save game on a USB device or in the PS+ Cloud before gambling away your hard earned coins. If you don't win any mods, you can copy back your save game and have all your coins back, then try again. And if you do find a new mod, you overwrite the backup save game.
Below is a list of the 9 mods with fixed locations and their coordinates in the Krypt:
Outside Area (Graveyard)
2,10 Danger Fight Modifier
-5,9 Tilting World Modifier
-4,19 Quick Uppercut Recovery Fight Modifier
-7,21 Double Damage Fight Modifier
-19,16 Wrestling Kombat Fight Modifier
-22,8 Inverted Blocking Fights
Spider Cave
No Mods!
Shao Kahn's Temple
-1,13 Hand to Hand Fight Modifier
Lost Mausoleum (Accessed from Shao Kahn's Temple)
5,-3 Gift of Reflect Armor Fight Modifier
Nettherrealm
1,4 Bag of Tricks - Playing Living Towers (Recommended): Beating an hourly living tower will earn you the same mod that is active throughout the tower. The living towers are generated randomly and the active mods are ever changing (daily towers don't unlock any mods).
Here's a guide for all Krypt locations: Krypt.
You need to explore it a bit and pick up all 12 interactive objects (e.g. raiden's staff to teleport, kenshi's sword to access Shao Kahn's temple etc.). You do not need to spend a single coin to get access to all areas; just pick up the interactive objects and then open the tombs that give you the modifiers.
If you need to farm coins, here is a great video from Hakoom showing it. Notice that you need to reach level 50 in all factions first to unlock Dragon King Border (+500 Koins per match wins):

There are more than 100 of them in the game. Initially, 15 pieces are available, they do not count.
Modifiers can be obtained in two ways. In the Crypt, and in the Living Tower.
In the Krypt. We open what can be opened. The downside is that they come across very rarely.
In the Living Tower . The modifier can only be obtained from the Living Clock Tower, that is, the one that updates every hour. We go through it and they give you one modifier, it’s simple.
Two minuses. First, you need to wait a certain time for the tower to update.
Secondly, the trophy requires unique modifiers, that is, not repetitions. If the tower has been updated and there is a repeat modifier, then you need to wait another whole hour until the next update.
You can find out whether you have previously received any modifier or not in the Living Tower menu - if in the left corner there is your passing record, then you have this modifier, which is given for passing through this Tower. And that means we are waiting for the tower to be updated.
You can also see how many modifiers you have open in a two-player game - in a customized battle.
