How to unlock the There is a Ruler achievement in Mortal Kombat X - Definitive Guide
The games story is actually pretty entertaining.
Also there shouldnt be anything really difficult, even the endboss is pretty easy.
Just play trough all of the games 12 chapters and get to know some of the characters you might wouldnt have played as otherwise.
If you should still struggle with some of the fights, there is always the option, to change the campaigns difficulty in the game options under:
"Options" - "Gameplay" - "Campaing Difficulty"
to a difficulty that suits you more !

Should note, skipping fights does not void this achievement. I was able to skip three fights before it said I had run out of skips, but still got the achievement at the end. Liu Kang seemed to be the hardest fights, maybe save skips for those fights

If you're just going to copy and paste from trueachievements at least credit the person you stole it from.

Story mode is accessed from the One Player section of the main menu. There are 12 chapters in total to play through and it should take around 3-4 hours to play through them all. Skipping all of the cut scenes you will shave some time off that estimate as well. This achievement will unlock once you have completed Chapter 12: 'Cassie Cage'. To make this even easier, you can set the difficulty to Very Easy from the Gameplay Options menu.
NOTE: While it's not directly related to the achievements, I recommend trying to perfect each QTE as you play through the story to unlock various Kombat Kard sets.
The story mode is very entertaining and quite short (2-3 hours skipping cutscenes) and is required not only for these two trophies, but you need to complete it to unlock Shinnok which is required for many other trophies.
Take note that you can also skip some fights using your Skip Fight tickets, but they are limited so use them wisely. Starting the game you are given with 3 of these tickets and you can find some others in the Krypt.
Also, you can change the difficulty to Very Easy in the Gameplay options inside the Options in the Main menu, so use this to your advantage facing all fights in the Story.
Here is the list of all chapters you need to complete (all chapters contains 4 Checkpoints):

It’s better to go through at least on average (of course, if you have never or played a little fighting games and plan to run it in multiplayer), otherwise when you go online you realize that you haven’t gained the slightest skill for completing the story, which in fact in fighting games is done in order to introduce you with the combat system and prepare for playing in multiplayer.
It's up to you to decide, of course.
