There are a total of 36 Lore items to collect in Mortal Shell. There are 4 areas where these items are located and they are Fallgrim, Shrine Of Ash, Crypt of Martyrs, & Seat of Infinity. There are 19 Inscriptions, and 17 Etchings located in the game. The etchings are hidden and you have to randomely swing at walls to find them.

An Etching, when revealed grants you a Glimpse Of Wisdom (3 Glimpses). Reveal it by attack-based collision on potential surfaces of environmental geometry. Etching 2/5/13 is missable per Cycle - to get it before vanquishing the boss of Seat Of Infinity (Citadel area). I recommend to have/use Ornate Mask (Talk to Sester Genessa with a Shell fully Skilled (press Y if using Hadern with 10 Skills learned), then purchase it with 30 Glimpses; Unlimited Use Item) in order to Fast Travel.

I think this achievement is only for the etchings. The achievement just unlocked for me with all etchings unlocked but still 7 inscriptions left.

Is it possible to backtrack to the locations and pick up the etchings after the game is completed?

Defeating bosses changes the map layout so possibly not

Just as an FYI to everyone (maybe this can be added to the solution), simply uncovering it is not enough, you need to READ the Etching.

I missed The etchings at shrine of eternity because I went after the Boss. If I start a NG+ and Go directly to threre Will It count or I have do all of them again?

*MISSABLE*

For this achievement, you must collect the 17 Etching collectibles. There is another collectible type called Inscriptions, but those are not required. The walkthrough linked in the Road Map will lead you to all of these, or you can use this text guide if you prefer. There are only three etchings that can be missed in the Seat of Infinity area, as you must collect these before killing the boss of the area or you won't be able to get them in that playthrough. If you miss anything, you can start NG+ and run straight to any etchings you missed to grab them.
