For a game with absolutely no information anywhere on the net, this will have to be a start.
Beginner Course (Course 1)
My Course Time: 30:66
3 Perfect Jumps
100% Clean Jump
100% Path Precision
Avg Speed 20mph
Lifetime 668 Perfect Jumps, 235 Competitions
Course Time 31:28 is a Platinum.
Things Ive learned from this course:
1. Only for Obstacle courses, you can move your hands back at the start to rev the horse before moving the reigns. That'll give a minor speed boost. Unfortunately, its a mediocre boost but you truly need every little speed boost you can in this game.
2. The best way to jump in this game is to do it early. You should be rising up by the middle of the box. Since there is input lag delay, if you do it too late, you lose a lot of speed after the jump or worse, fault and lose 4 seconds. The worst that happens when you do it too early is that you'll fault, but thats absolutely jumping the gun. If not, you'll keep the same speed, even if it doesn't count as a Perfect Jump. (Obstacle courses are time based, not jump based)
Short Race (Course 2)
My Course Time: 37:83
1 Perfect Jump
100% Clean Jump
Avg Racing Speed 38mph
Lifetime 242 Competitions (7 Tries)
Course Time 40:84 is a Gold.
Author's Note: Odd that this is the only Race of the Horseback Riding challenges. The Long race is a Uplay bonus, which isn't a standard challenge.
Novice Course (Course 3)
My Course Time: 38:82
5 Perfect Jump
100% Clean Jump
89% Path Precision
Avg Speed: 18mph
Lifetime 1118 Perfect Jump, 356 Competitions (114 Tries)
Course Time 39:55 is a Platinum.
Things Ive learned from this course:
1. You can still accelerate while turning. That would seem obvious in a controller based racing game, but not here. If anything, it seems more reliable than accelerating straight.
Intermediate Course (Course 4)
My Course Time: 48:02
8 Perfect Jumps
100% Clean Jump
83% Path Precision
Avg Speed: 18mph
Lifetime 1220 Perfect Jump, 376 Competitions (20 Tries)
Course Time 50:00 is a Gold? I think.
This was my first good clean run for this level. I did pretty piss poorly for a clean run but it was good enough for Diamond.
Advanced Course (Course 5)
My Course Time: 58:97
8 Perfect Jumps
100% Clean Jump
89% Path Precision
Avg Speed: 19mph
Lifetime 1434 Perfect Jump, 411 Completions (35 Tries- I should note starting from Advanced Course, I started to retry more since I didn't feel like completing the course to continue)
Course Time 59:97 is Platinum
Not a difficult course but the Water jump makes it very frustrating. You can do everything correctly and it won't give it to you. You're basicly stuck trying and hoping it lets you go. You need to keep your speed up more than the Intermediate course but not as strictly as the Beginner Course.
Deluxe Course (Course 6)
My Course Time: 1:00:20
10 Perfect Jumps
100% Clean Jumps
95% Path Precision
Avg Speed: 19mph
Lifetime 1525 Perfect Jump, 425 Completions (14 Tries- I should note starting from Advanced Course, I started to retry more since I didn't feel like completing the course to continue)
Course Time 1:05:18 is Gold
If you've been getting Diamonds along the way, its more of the same thing. Prep your jump early so you're rising up on the arrow. Accelerating while you turn is important as well. The water jump on this level is not as annoying as the Advanced Course. Once you get the course layout down, it is pretty simple.
Super Deluxe Course (Course 7)
Course Time: 1:29:51
8 Perfect Jumps
100% Clean Jumps
90% Path Precision
Avg Speed: 19mph
Lifetime 1684 Perfect Jump, 443 Completions (18 Tries- I should note starting from Advanced Course, I started to retry more since I didn't feel like completing the course to continue)
Course Time 1:31:42 is Platinum
This last course is a pain in the butt. Its twisty and windy and has you turning all over the place. Everything you've learned so far is important to carry over to this level on top of one more new thing..
Things Ive learned from this course:
Learn to prepare your jump while turning a corner so you can jump the moment your cornering is complete.
This level does a pretty good job of autocorrecting jumps assuming you do your jump early. Its the only real way you'll make it through this level with a Diamond time. Jump too late and you'll either fault or slow down- which you can't afford either.

Well I did it in a day, but it was on and off.

to be fair, I struggled the most on the beginner course. The game does a poor job in teaching you what needs to be done. You constantly have to do a whip the reigns motions, even while turning, to keep your speed up and "jump" early because of input lag.
By MemoriesOfFinal on 30 Jul 2012 01:52
Some advice before attempting:
1) Stretch, especially shoulders and knees.
2) Have water on hand, lots of water.. and stay hydrated!
3) set up each course for maximum amount of players (all but short race are 4 player capable; short race is 2, but you want to do 1, since 2 will require a partner to be present).
4) Kinect will recognize you for each new player attempting, so instead of reloading and waiting, you stay in a rhythm with the course and it will help immensely on harder courses when you start to get into a "zone" and don't have to get sidetracked by a 1-2 minute wait between loading. Plus this will build your fame a bit faster since you're taking out load times and photo shots.
5) Please remember to play responsibly. This is a kinect game that requires a lot of repetitive motions, and without proper exercise, care, and preparation, you are more vulnerable to injury. So please, take breaks when needed, and go at a pace you can handle.. i.e. If you can only do 3 races before you are feeling sore, than stop for a while, let your body adapt to the physical demand before more attempts per session.
Some general tips and guidelines:
1) aim to be on the giant white arrow when jumping, this will nearly guarantee a perfect jump 9/10 times. By the time you get to the advance courses where turns are everywhere, you can still achieve a perfect jump by doing an angled jump where the arrow would likely be because it would simply just be too hard or too long to line up with the marked arrow (this will be explained further down below).
2) Perfect jumps are difference makers.. you can make up speed from a clean jump, but a perfect jump will keep you at your same speed from when you jumped and will save at least a second from your end score.
3) I found that when jumping hurdles, keeping my hands up until I landed rather than continually whipping helped achieve a perfect jump.
4) fast whips for low speed; slow whips for high speeds
5) slow whips + strong-one hand turn = faster cutting when turning (note that you still have to time near perfect when to cut, and this is where the 4 player strategy works well to keep you in a rhythm). To expand on this, a "strong-one hand turn" should consist of the turning hand being somewhat bent into your hip and at the 9 - 10 o'clock position (for left hand turns) or the 2 - 3 o'clock position (for right hand turns) with your other hand at the 11 o'clock position (for left hand turns) or the 1 o'clock position (for right hand turns). So for example, if you need to take a left turn, and you're going at 19-22 mph, you want to have slow whips with your left hand at the 9 - 10 o'clock position and your right hand at the 11 o'clock position. Please note that each try will most likely be different, however slight, from the previous. As such, you may need to improvise how much of a turn you need to do, but just remember if you go below the 9 o'clock position with both hands for left turns, or above the 3 o'clock position for right turns, you're more than likely going to stall the horse or keep going straight. So just remember to time your turns when using this method.
6) ALWAYS WHIP! Unless jumping a hurdle, you should be whipping, whether slow or fast, turning or going straight, whip it!
7) Cut inside on course paths. This will still keep your course path % high and will increase your time. If you've mastered the slow whips + strong-one hand turn method, you should be fine. You rarely want to be on the outside of a course path because it will take longer!
8) practice on the Intermediate Course (Course 4) since it has a pretty good blend of turns, a water jump, and 8 hurdles. I can vouch that once I mastered this course, it took an hour and a half to finish the rest due to just "understanding" how to master the above techniques.
9) **You can miss 1 perfect jump for diamond!** All but one of my diamond runs had a missed perfect jump. But note that you must have all clean jumps!**
10) The sweetest words you will hear when you know you got diamond before it is shown on the screen is "OH MY GOD, CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!" by the commentator... which will pop the achievement at the same time when you're on your last course. If you don't hear these words/excitement in the commentators voice, keep trying.
Incorporating all of the above, here is a course detail:
Beginner Course:
Time: <00:32:00
Outlook: This is pretty simple, and you have to play it to start unlocking other courses. So i would suggest using this course to get familiar with the settings and moving on to Course 4 when possible to actually practice when available. Once you master the basics, this will be pretty easy. Not much to elaborate on. Mine unlocked at 00:31:06.
Short Race:
Time: <00:40:00
Outlook: By far the easiest one to get diamond, it's basically a straight shot with few hurdles. You really don't even need to master the basics to get this one. Mine unlocked at 00:39:49.
Novice Course:
Time: <00:39:00
Outlook: This took longer than the Intermediate Course, but only because I didn't master all the techniques I mentioned above. As I mentioned, it's best to practice on the Intermediate Course and once you nail that, everything else should be manageable. Mine unlocked at 00:38:90.
Intermediate Course:
Time: <00:49:00
Outlook: I cannot stress what practicing on this course did for me. I probably spent the same time on the previous 3 courses before taking the 30 minutes to tone up my skill on this course to complete the rest (and much harder) courses in the same time as the former 3 courses. A good practice for the water pond hurdle, since jumping when on the arrow is key to landing without a penalty. Mine unlocked at 00:48:66.
Advance Course:
Time: <01:00:00
Outlook: The continuous hurdles (the ones which require immediate jumping upon landing the prior one) may take a few rounds to master, but if you've got the above-mentioned techniques down, this really will not be that difficult of a course. Mine unlocked at 00:58:90.
Deluxe Course:
Time: <01:02:00
Outlook: This is where you start working on turns a lot. Just remember slow whips + strong-one hand turn = fast cutting. Sometimes using the slow whips+ two hand turn works and sometimes it screws everything up (refer above). I learned that the former technique is more dependable and I rather take the time to master that than the latter technique. Mine unlocked at 01:01:91.
Super Deluxe Course:
Time: <01:30:00
Outlook: This is where timing and rhythm is key! the turns can be difficult, especially #10, but when I used the slow whips + strong-one hand turn method, I was able to jump #10(sometimes perfect) and avoid the hurdle to the right of it (which I would be immediately facing). This is where also you're cut slack on angled jumps, you can basically still get perfect jumps doing an angled jump (like #6) so don't fret too much about the course path. On my Diamond run, #10 was the one hurdle I missed a perfect. Just remember you're given a freebie with the perfect jumps and I would suggest using it on #10 if possible. This will be by far the hardest, and all I can say is time your turns/cuts is the most crucial part since at this point, you should have mastered every other technique. Mine unlocked at 01:29:42.
Happy Hunting :)

Do you think this is the hardest sport?
By jordaOwO on 17 Aug 2013 21:43
The horse challenge has been by far, the most physically demanding for me. So in terms of it being the hardest for your body to endure, yes. In terms of the hardest to utilize controls, no. I feel Hang Gliding requires a lot of skill and is probably the hardest sport, technically speaking, in my opinion.
