First, you should work towards all single player achievements (all tournaments on medium/higher difficulties) to get your seed up to 10-5. After that, it's very difficult to get higher in single player. Take a second controller and win duels to easily get up to #1.

Yeah this is pretty much what I did. Multiplayer split-screen races.
I personally raced on the first track (Andalucia, Spain) as you can get a bike round the track between 43 and 50 seconds depending on how good you are at the game. This means you can then get your second controller round the track at about 1:30.
What I did though was race with my first controller but placed the second controller under my right forearm (so it was pressing up on the right thumbstick and accelerating on the second controller). This meant I could get both bikes round in 1 minute 15.
Also be sure not to accidentally finish first with the second controller as I did once, as this will cause your seed to have +0.30 or something added to it.

As Mtld said, progressing through career should get you close to seed 5. I was up to seed 7, and then started doing multiplayer split screen races. Easy, just do an Extreme 1200 race on one lap on a really short track (AI bikes turned off) and you should gain the remaining seeds after several races. It takes time, but it can be done.

i personally played through rookie, pro and champion championships first, because as you rank up (about every 25 seeds) the amount you rank up by after each win will decrease, (at first its around .90 after each win which then you start to get less) so it is better to use a higher difficulty to keep a steady pace, i.e. 100-75, rookie, 75-50, pro, etc. i believe i was around a seed 20 before attempting all legend championships, after all four i was atleast seed 2.35, after which i used 'Quinn's ^ multiplayer method, it took about 13 races to get to seed 1. must be 1.00 to get achievement

Nice solution. Though my achievement unlocked as soon as I hit seed 1. I think it unlocked at seed 1.94, not 1.00 as you've stated.

your probably right i dont really remember, personally i hated the game i only finished it cause it was on my achievement list, i think i remember seeing the number i stated on another solution and used that, but i sure you've gotta get 1.00 for 'accredited' anyway, thx for reading :)
