Set races to 1 lap.
You have 5 seasons durring career so there is plenty of time to upgrade your bike and unlock better teams. I got chieevo durring ma 2nd season, used first to max out my bike. Starting from France it's possible to win even in 1st season. AI is good on normal corners but very slow on edged ones (like corners before downhill on Sachsenring)
You can cut some schickanes without slowing, for example:
*Le Mans (1st after start)
*Indianapolis (last before finish straight, go flatout)
* Donington (corners before straight & 1st U-turn, go left side, going through sand on right will slow you)

Concentrate on one class only, I advise 125cc. They are easiest to handle, qualfications are tough but I was on pole for most of my 2nd season.
Tough tracks I completely dislike and skipped without racing: (Imola, China, Mugello, Brno). On 2nd season you will start racing durring wet weather.
You can dashboard on qualf sessions and next time you launch game pole pos. time might change to lower or higher.
Beginning of career with not upgraded bike is always worse. To get upgrade points you need at least 15th place. Each point you get will make rest of game easier and easier.
As for upgrades put most of points on Acceleration, especially at beginning. Other bikes will be always faster even if you max out top speed and this way at least you will have better turn exits and start of race.
