How to unlock the This Is Our Land achievement in Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord - Definitive Guide
Scroll down to 3/3/2023 edit for the achievement solution
As of 1/6/2023 this achievement still has not been unlocked by anyone.
I tried doing this several times by coercing enemy armies to attack my towns and castles by creating a separate save file and throwing troops away to entice them. You can also wait outside the settlement with your party until the siege actually begins (the battle starts) and then move in, break through, and join the battle. That way the enemy army won’t retreat before it starts due to unfavorable odds.
I’ve successfully defended the ramparts without ever letting anyone get over the walls or through the front gate while keeping all my troops inside. I’ve also tried sending all my troops out through the main gate to attack the enemy before they can even get close to the ladders. I tried to “sally out”, as well as attacking the enemy camp. Nothing worked.
I think for this achievement the enemy has to actually put a hole in your castle wall using trebuchets and you have to defend that way. Like at the end of the movie Kingdom of Heaven, and LOTR: The Two Towers. Except in LOTR the enemy got through.
Edit on 1/8/2023:
I broke both walls of Epicrotea during my siege. After taking the town I reduced my party and garrison to lure in invaders. Even declared war on a couple of extra factions to help my chances. After a few days a mid sized army from Sturgia pulled up. They tried and never made it past the holes in the walls after 3 rounds. Still no achievement….
I also tried this with just 1 hole in the walls, let some enemy troops flood in, and then beat them back. Nada.
Edit on 3/3/2023:
Achievement unlocked with the newest update! So I had a couple of different save files to test this. First I tried it on a save where a town was under siege with the walls still intact. I defended the ramparts and pushed ladders down multiple times. The main gate was never breached as the their battering ram was destroyed. The achievement did NOT unlock. The other save file I had was a town with 1 hole in the wall. The entire enemy army rushed the hole and my army and I beat them back. No enemy soldier ever crossed the hole as we fought right inside the choke point (not sure if that matters). After the battle once back on the map, the achievement popped!
***Apparently since the update people are having success with this achievement by simply riding up on the map and attacking the siege camp. That was one of the first things I tried, before and after the patch and it didn’t work for me. When you do this there are no walls on the battlefield, just a regular open field. No castle or town in the background etc. If this reliably works then this will be a very easy achievement to unlock moving forward.

Nice. I’m going to send him a message to see if he can provide some insight.

To unlock this achievement your City (IN MY CASE: I defended Mecalova Castle) must be under SIEGE, and instead of breaking into the city to defend the walls, Click on the city and "ATTACK" the army, rather then breaking into the city to defend it, and as long as you defeat the attacking army- you will receive the achievement. As soon as it informed me that the battle had been won (while I was in an open field) I received the achievement.

This achievement is so weird. I tried that earlier today (attack the siege camp), prior to unlocking the achievement and it didn’t work. I also tried to “sally out”. Basically I went through all the methods I previously did before the update. What worked for me was defending a hole in the walls. If people have luck with this then it’s super easy.

If your castle/city is attacked, you can break through the siege into it, but you will lose ~15% of your troops. Next, we simply participate in the defense.
Can be combined with the “Against all odds” trophy, since it is very easy to defeat the prevailing enemy forces in defense.
