Caravans are 15000 gold. The workshop I got was 25000 I think. I got my gold by doing the tournaments. Just max bet on yourself. Reload save if you loose. If your lucky you will win a high sell price hore. I got around 25000 gold for mine. After a while the winnings are not as good. Also hunt and loot bandits when you can. When someone offers to hire you as a mercenary accept it. This will give you an income. You can increase the gold income by hunting bandits and completing quests in the factions teritory. Also sell prisoners at the taverns. Once you have done all this you should have enough gold. I hope this helps.

Make enough money to purchase a workshop by doing quest or being a mercenary early on don't raid villages it takes too long just fight the militia if there are none go to ones that have them. when you go to war with a fraction take all the loot from said villages than sell to anyplace as long as the money the shop gives is not in the negatives(shop does not have enough money) war is profitable as for the quest do ones that are simple like taking out a bandit hideout keep em around so that the villagers complain makes around 3k every time(more depending on mid or late game) Also the hatchet quest from the gang leaders buy them In preparation so you don't go through the guard and get a criminal record or pay a fee to be let in. Last but not least you CANOT earn achievements in sandbox mode so if you are trying to do that it won't work you have to play campaign mode waisted 75 hrs thinking I was doing something wrong
