How to unlock the Best of the Best achievement in Ms. Splosion Man - Definitive Guide

In hardcore mode there is no checkpoints, and one hit kills you. This will be the thoughts of the achievements to get in this game. Hardcore mode will open as soon as you complete normal mode. You have to complete all levels, incl. the secrets ones. I found it easies to give the map a try, many times you can get through without dieing. If you're struggling, look up a video on the Internet (see link) to see what is coming up. Here is a web-page where there is a writing + video guide of each level, so you know what is coming up.

EDIT: I notice there was missing 2 videos on the homepage. World 3, level 6 and last boss fight. Added both down under.
WARNING LAST VIDEO CONTAINS SPOILER OF LAST BOSS (But if you started hardcore, you already know it)

Credit to Mitchell from Gamefront, alot!
Credit to RatingPendingGaming for last boss fight video.

I didn't make use of that really. Once on a world 3 level. But i can agreed that your method also works, i just found it to take longer since a few level you can do without even dieing:). I first died at 1-8 when i started.

Do you have to get to both the normal and secret exits to unlock every level?

Just finished on hardcore and it didn't pop. I guess I missed one, but I have no idea which. Is there any way to tell?

I figured out how to tell which ones you're missing. Once you've successfully 'sploded your way through a level, its label on the world map will have a cloud of smoke around it. In order to tell what you're missing, simply look for a level with no smoke.

Turns out I was missing 1-14 and 3-5.

I found it helped, around level 2-10 or so, to find videos of the levels to see what comes ahead. Helps refamiliarize them for you. Never found it necessary to try the levels on normal again for practise.

@VeryMetalChewie I can confirm that you have to get all the secret exits to unlock every level, and getting to a secret level doesn't count as completing a stage. My question is if there is a way to check which stages you have cleared on Hardcore mode. Since I completed the game on normal and am now attempting Hardcore, every single level says it has been completed. If anyone knows a way to check please tell me.

Your strategy for this should be to go back and replay the tougher levels on the Normal diffculty again to familiarize yourself with them. Then, after you feel comfortable with the level, go and complete in on Hardcore. Personally I found this game to be tougher than the original and I had to do this once I got into World 3. I don't think I would have been able to nab this achievement without using this strategy.

While I don't need to explain what Hardcore Mode is, I have made a video guide to all 50 levels, in case you're a visual person like myself.

Unfortunately, only a minority of the videos have shoe strategies as well--I was focusing on finishing the level alive. redface

Here's a link to my actual channel, which has all 50 videos if you're looking for a specific one.

Playlist links below. Hope you guys enjoy this/learn from it and make this a little less difficult.

Plenty of easter eggs to make this a little entertaining as well. wink

You got a tumbs up from me! But I can see why you got 2 negatives so far. When you try to make it funny with the big woman shaking the screen is very annoying. When one try to focus on the game. Its just annoying! I do think its a bit funny when you say shoes sometimes when grabbing them. I'm at level 2-2 now. Thanks for the guide! It helps to look at each level before doing it. I wish I could have done each level on hardcore after I beat the normal version of it. Would make it much easier as memory is fresh at that time.

On a side note: I think its much better when you do not grab the shoes. There are other guides for that and its recommended to get them when you have checkpoints anyway.

In Hardcode Mode, there are no checkpoints in levels and everything kills you with one hit. This means it's a lot, I mean a LOT harder than normal play mode. (At the time of writing I have to finish up 2 extra-hard levels but I just beat the last boss)

The only exception to the one-hit-kill rule is the final boss (The Bride), which makes it a lot easier.

What helped me a lot to get through the game in Hardcode Mode is practicing a level beforehand in normal play mode. Once you're confident you know the level well enough to beat it without dying, switch to Hardcode Mode.

You have to unlock and beat the secret levels again, even if you already did this in normal play mode. Note that you can skip the levels in red (extra hard) and gold (secret) if they give you trouble, and come back to those later. It's not required to collect all the shoes again.

In theory you can do this as soon as you are done with single player, but this will most likely be your last achievement. Hardcore mode is no joke. The one difference from "Normal" to "Hardcore" is there are no checkpoints in the game. So you have to complete each level in one run, if you die for whatever reason you will have to start from the beginning!
