How to unlock the Front Runner achievement in MX vs. ATV Alive - Definitive Guide
from RACE MENUE go to
Xbox LIVE Multiplayer press X for create private session
under activity type pick national or short track (short track goes much faster)
set locations and rounds to 5 each - this way,you don't need to set it up evertime you finish one race
start session - invite friend or xbox live party - and take turns in winning
my friend and I played 70 matches this way and the achievement popped - so I can confirm, that playing "private matches" does work out just fine (you wanna keep track of your winnings, to give yourself an idea, how many games you won)
don't leave negative feedback without a reason, doesn't help in any kind of way

Great solution BenGoose! Also, to give everyone else a sense of how long it will take, it took me and someone else a little over 3 hours for both of us to get the 35 wins on Kinoko 5 laps.

My friend and I can't connect with each other... Does anybody else have this issue?

If you dont want to boost the other option is to get good at the atv and play rookie atv where i found it to be the easiest place to win races legit. i got this achievement in about 4 hours. i won 35 out for 45 races.
A good time to find people lacking skill is around 12pm central time and around 8pm central time. I found that these times seem to increase the number of low level kids playing.
I found that even level 50 in this game doesnt mean much so dont be nervous when one joins your match because had no problem destroying them at the rookie atv.
Also use the Holeshot player skill when you unlock it at level 25 i believe or after you beat james stewart i forget.
GOOD LUCK!!!

Is there a way to keep track of your progress?
I already completed more than 50 races and have no idea how many I won.

As the comments have suggested in the other solutions, I found it impossible to get into a game with a boosting partner. If you're going to do this legitimately, then you might find this information useful.
1) At the time of writing (October 2015), the Rookie MX playlist is the most popular by far.
2) Mastering the scrub maneuver is invaluable to winning in MX
3) You should keep track of your wins yourself, as there is no in-game tracker.
4) It is easier to beat just 1 other player than a whole pack of riders. It is, therefore, advisable to wait for another player to join your empty game (waiting periods may vary)
5) As long as a race starts with 2 or more players, a win is recorded even if the other player leaves mid-game.
These tips are based on my own experience with multiplayer, but I did finish the multiplayer aspect of the game within 2 days.
Hope this helps someone else.

Grab a partner and start a private session online. I suggest using the short track Kinoko because it’s the shortest track. Set the laps to the minimum and location to five. You will play five rounds on that map and then just set it up the same way when it’s over. You won’t be sent back to the menu.
Self-explanatory. Just win 35 races online.
