During an event if you land incorrectly or another racer hits you hard enough an orange arrow will pop up in the center of your screen.
When this happens move your right thumb-stick in the direction indicated by the arrow. This will count as one avoided wreck. Repeat this process 35 times for the achievement.
To make this easier you can equip the rider skill that gives you a larger window of opportunity to avoid wrecking.
