To avoid the Off Track and black and white screen I suggest using an ATV its easier to handle as a MX take it easy on the jumps and you should be fine.
Also when passing other racers try to overtake them on wide straights rather than jumps/corners.

You will most likely get this as you progress. If you're having difficulties just go slow for the entire race as you just have to finish the race, not win.

Going off track is where you race outside the track. The track is marked by tires and other things. If you go off track your screen will fade and a giant Off Track message will appear on screen. Simply finish the race without going off track. It doesn’t matter what position you finish in.
