As soon as you start the game you will be thrown into the action. This game is a twin stick shooter so Left Stick 
moves you around while the Right Stick 
fires in whatever direction you point it.
That being said, your melee button is
and I suggest going for this achievement as soon as you encounter your first enemies. There will be 2 groups you come across, the first one has nothing but melee wielding enemies so just knock them out with . The second group will have 2 guys wielding pistols at the back of the group with the rest carrying melee weapons again. Just run at the gunner and kill them with melee first and then finish off the rest.
These two groups should have been 10 enemies, if not then proceed on with melee attacking everyone you come across and it should pop soon.

Even on Hardcore, it's very easy to melee kill most enemies, and you can do so by pressing 
when they are in close range. You swing very fast, and with a wide arc, so it's not too difficult to kill multiple enemies in one swing.
