I am getting serious slowdown and control lag on this boss. I am on XSX and when the screen gets hectic it is slow motion stuttering.

The only reason it is difficult is poor performance. Control input should never lag this much on a boss fight that expects precise timing.

Defeated him, finished the game, still didn't get the achievement.

If this part of the game is frustrating you, do yourself a favour and put your controller down. A lot of these boss encounters are doable if you take a breather and don’t let yourself get worked up. I took a whole day off between my Glove attempts!

Welcome to the most challenging level and boss fight in the game; due to the scarce number of check points, dying will come at a steep cost and the boss on this train (The Glove) is by far the hardest boss in the game. However, if you can manage to beat him, the rest of the game is a walk in the park.

Like many of the other bosses, trial and error through repetition will help you learn his attack patterns as he does telegraph his attacks pretty early but it’s the speed with which he executes his attacks that I struggled with. With each passing round of 3 different attacks each, they’ll start coming at you faster and what’s particularly challenging is when he launches the blocks at you.

The battle sequence can be broken down into rounds and each rounds is made up of 3 different attacks:
  1. 4 waves of block attack
  2. 2/3/4 fists
  3. 1/2 focused shot(s)
Normally, I would take my time and milk this battle but with each passing round, the blocks come at you faster, the number of fists and speed with which they attack increase and the number of focused shots and lock on speed also increase. This uptick in tempo got to the point where I could barely see the blocks coming at me, let alone dodge them or successfully land attacks between rounds.

Strategy
If you can manage a near perfect run of your first two rounds, for the rest of the encounter, forget about dodging the 4 waves of blocks and take the hits so that you can focus on attacking the boss/regenerating your health and, hopefully like me, you’ll have him beat by the end of the 4th round!

Edit
I had a video to accompany this wall of text but between my console and the Xbox network, can’t find the video anywhere anymore?! facepalm

Thank you, this was the only way I was able to defeat the guy. Sometimes I'd do a 3rd near perfect run too, I can't quite remember if I did this on my successful run as it took me 40 mins trying this method. I really had a hard time with the controls/ moves not actioning.
E: theres also a similar vid on Reddit for a speed run doing the same if anyone needs further assistance. Same method.

You’re welcome ColdEagle, glad it helped! I was about ready to give up on this game because of this fight and the lack of a proper guide; I looked everywhere for one before finally trying this approach. Clearly, I didn’t look long or hard enough and it could have saved me time and a lot of frustrations had I found that speed run! facepalm
