You can practice if you wish, I chose to qualify and got pole position each time. You won't need to worry about the second player car as it will be invisible for the qualifying session.
During the race, if possible to move your second player's car to the inside of the track is best. It will not go invisible and can cause a wreck or mess up your path to win.
I won each race, so I'm not sure if it matters if you come in any place in front of the second player or if you have to actually win each race.

Load up split screen with two controllers and it will ask you to pick a track. You can set the race length to lowest and choose the Extreme Dirt series for even faster races. After a race is complete, the loser gets to choose the next track. Repeat for four races and win them all over your idle opponent to score this trophy.
If you do not have two controllers, you should theoretically be able to share play with another person who has the game, but I have not tested it.
