How to unlock the Good Teammate Trophy achievement in NBA 2K10 - Definitive Guide

Some important information: This is an overall grade not just for 1 game. So if you play a game and do bad, Grade C or Lower than its going to take 3 or 4 games of A grades to get it up to an A overall.

Ways to improve your Grade on Offense:
-Offensive Rebounds
-Assists
-Good Passes
-Setting a screen – Run up to the man guarding your teammate with the ball and hold the B button.
-Good Positioning – this one is tricky – try and have as much room as possible between you and your teammates.
-Scoring on a fast break
-Getting a Slam Dunk
-Good Shot Selection
-Drawing a foul
-Converting and And-1
-Going 2-2 on the Free Throw Line

Ways to improve your Grade on Defense
-Defensive rebounds
-Good shot defense
-Boxing out – When the ball is in the air, get by your man and hold the LT.
-Tipping a pass
-Getting a steal
-Getting a Block
-Successful Double Team

Things that decrease your Grade
-Letting the man you are guarding score
-Taking a bad shot
-Fouling
-Going 0-2 at the free throw line
-Bad positioning
-Turnover
-Leaving your man on defense

The best way I have found to do it is to try and set as many screens and box outs as you can and don’t just try and score 30 points every game but go for assists and rebounds.

Please feel free to let me know if there is anything else I should add or something that I am missing. Good Luck.

UPDATE: If you would like to boost this it is very easy. You need a total of 2 people, have one player keep intentionally fouling the other until your grade is an A+. Then just play the game out and if you start to drop then just intentionally foul again back up to an A+. Achievement will pop when you get back to the main screen.

A really good guide mate - and as you say, very important to do the basics right and play as a functioning member of the team rather than just a flashy individual performance.

Thank you but it is easier said than done as I am still working on this achievement.

Really good guide man, been one the pains in my ass when I first started this. People kept thinking there Kobe and hogging the ball. Best two positions I would recomend are the C and PG spots since they let you get a lot of grade points quite easy using your method

Do you know how to set pick-up games to 1 minute quarters? I did that once when I was invited to another person's lobby but can't seem to set up a short match myself.

I have not seen an option to lower the time in the pick-up games. Sorry.

How is the intentional foul thing possible? When I do an intentional foul, MY player does it rather than a teammate, so it lowers my rating. Would you have to have someone using a dummy account in order to boost them or something?

If you hit Y for options and do a private lobby you can do 1 min quarters but I don't know if the achievement will pop. I'm trying to test it now but I can't get a game going...

Confirmed that Private Lobby with 1 minute quarters does not work.

I was boosting this with a friend and got my rank up to an A in the 2nd quarter before he lost his internet connection. The match was ended prematurely but I went back to the pickup lobby and the achievement popped, so you don't have to finish the match so long as you have at least an A- grade.

Reset my game saves and everything. Grade just stays at F. So I would say, that this achievement is broken or something. Not sure how to raise the grade. Got an A and an A+ on 2 games. No cheevo

To get a positive teammate rating, you have to have an overall grade of A- in Pick Up games and Crew games (not in each, you have the same grade for both). You start out with an F and you have to do well in games to bring it up. Try getting a lot of assists and only shoot if you have an easy layup or you are wide open. It's not that hard to get an A-, A, or A+ in a single game. The trick is, though, that if one person quits the game, your rank will not change. That doesn't mean you should quit, though, because if you do, you will get an F for that game and have that factored in to your average.

The best way to do this is to invite a friend into your Pick Up game lobby. Once both of you are there, search for a game. If you two are the only ones in it, start the game. If not, quit and try again. Keep searching until you start a game with just the two of you. Once you start, you can play the game like normal, trying to bring your grade up. Once you are in the fourth quarter, if you do not have an A+, have your friend intentionally foul you (he presses ). Your grade should raise because of the 'Draw Foul' bonus. Keep doing this until you have an A+ and then finish the game. Once you are back in the lobby, you have to back out to the main menu and then go back into the lobby to see your rank change. If you do not have an A-, play another game.

If you boost it this way, however, only one of you will be able to get the A+. The other person will more than likely get an F. You can either play a few more games so the person who got an F the first game can gradually increase the grade, or you can use another account on a second xbox. If you don't have a second gold account, which most of you probably don't, you can just create another one on the console and you will get a free month of gold.
