How to unlock the My MVP achievement in NBA 2K11 - Definitive Guide
First things first, set your games to 12min quarters and the sim games to 1min quarters (that way, the other teams only play 1 minute games and players like Kobe will only get 2 points per game) and you will have plenty of time to rack up stats with 12min quarters. Set the difficulty to its lowest possibility (i think its Pro).
Make sure you are on a bad team. If you get drafted by a good team, request a trade to a bad team(s) with a player that has a low rating at YOUR position. That way, once you're traded, you will be starting (on a bad team) sooner rather than later (depending on your Overall rating). And by bad team, i mean BAD. You don't want to be on the Lakers because then Kobe will rack up good stats and steal your MVP!!
If you are not a starter right away, I would recommend playing some games so you can get good xp to up your overall rating (offensive and defensive awareness are good ones to up).
Once you're a starter (or are getting alot of minutes (30+ is a good number)--see My Player --> My Minutes) you really dont need to play the games anymore. Just start up a game, press start, press quit, and press sim to end of game. Do this over and over again until the season ends. You should get MVP by season's end.
WARNING. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT: Make sure you ALWAYS have autosave OFF. That way, if your player ever gets injured, you can quit out of My Player and re-load. I say this because if you miss too many games, you will not get MVP no matter how godly your stats are.
NOTE: This solution will also help you with getting Rookie of the Year and selected as an All-Star. HOWEVER, simming games does NOT give you xp, so your players overall rating will not increase unless you use xp from milestones. SO, if you are also going for the 80 overall rating achievement, I recommend you play games until you get that 80 overall. Once you get better you won't need to play on 12min quarters.
Also, in the post-game interviews, answering with arrogance will almost always increase your league-wide popularity, which probably (not 100% sure) will help your chances at getting MVP. For those of us who follow the NBA, we know that the MVP pretty much comes down to stats and a popularity contest.
If this solution has confused you, or you do not understand, please comment/pm me/message me on xbl before you vote this negative and I will try and help you understand.
My situation: I am a few games past the all-star break. I am a PG (the easiest and funnest position in my opinion) and am a 71 overall. I am on the Kings (lol) and we are in 2nd place in the conference because I am awesome at this game (hehe). I lead in the Rookie of the Year race, but NOT the MVP race because I made the mistake of saving after an injury that caused me to miss 20 games. I'm HOPING that by season's end, that I will have played enough games to be considered. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID!!
Now I didn't win every week or month, just when I fell to #2 that is what I would concentrate on until I got back to #1, answering arrogantly didn't seem to affect the race as much as.
Highly recommend a back-up save in case of injury or something else going fubar.
After the Summer Circuit, go to options and set the sim quarter length to 1 minute, and in-game play at 12 minutes. This will take some work depending on the team you join because if you join a team like the Lakers, then it is possible that Kobe could win the MVP. Winning the MVP comes down to how long it takes you to become a starter. The quicker you become a starter, the better set you are to have good scoring, rebounding, assists, steals, and blocks average to put you in the top tier of the league. Will help if you are on a playoff bound team, but with every other team in the league playing 4 minute games the only competition you have is your fellow starters. The trophy will appear during the end of regular season awards screen.
I was lucky enough to unlock this award in my 1st season, but you may need to play a 2nd or even 3rd to win the MVP award. Just follow the same strategy as My Rookie of the Year and My All-Star and you should win it on your 1st season. Playing well and leading the league in as many categories as possible will improve your chances of winning this award. If you happen to be on a team with another player such as Kobe Bryant who also dominates, I suggest a trade somewhere near the middle of the season to lower his stats with 40 odd games of 1 minute simmed quarters. This can help your chances at receiving the achievement.
If this doesn't unlock, play another game after achieving the award and it will unlock.
