How to unlock the My Rookie of the Year achievement in NBA 2K11 - Definitive Guide

Go to your My Player settings and set the game length to 12 minutes(or 10 minutes if you don't want to play that long).
Then set the Simulation length to 1 minute. This will make it so any team you are not playing will only have 4 minutes of game time. Thus, giving whatever Rookies that small amount of time to make points.

I average around 20 points 5 assists a game with 10 minute quarters. While the rookies who are limited to only 4 minutes of game time will only average maybe 3-5 points a game.

This will also help with:

NBA 2K11My All-StarThe My All-Star achievement in NBA 2K11 worth 72 pointsBe named an NBA All-Star in My Player mode.

and
NBA 2K11My MVPThe My MVP achievement in NBA 2K11 worth 100 pointsWin the NBA MVP award in My Player mode.

this is a good guide il give you that but come on its not that hard to be the best rookie in the league with sim games at 12 minute quarters.i have it set like that and as a rookie im first for rookie of the year, sixth man, defensive player and second in mvp voting.

Some of the casual players will find My Player very difficult. So this is just a way to make it a bit easier so they will actually have a chance to get the achievement.

You need to play all the games in a season for a chance at this? Or is the season shortened somehow?

don't know, if the cheevo is already fixed...but
I got the Rookie of the Year trophy (in game) but I got the My All-Star cheevo ???..., right now, I'm playing 3rd round playoffs - maybe it's unlocking once the playoffs are done, we'll see...just hope - it's not a glitch, 'cause I don't wanna level up again - it's fun, but takes a long time :-)

Ok it's not completely glitched, I had to play a couple games into the playoffs for the achievement to pop, so if you don't get it right away to worry, just play a couple more games.

I would just like to add that this achievement does not pop up at the end of the season when you get the notification!

It will pop after you play your next game in the playoffs or if you do a shooting drill. It is not still glitched.

I can confirm that, at least for some people, this Achievement is still glitched.

I was named Rookie Of The Year, and the Achievement did not pop for me, I am now in the Eastern Conference Finals, I have played every playoff game up until now (9 in total) and the Achievement never popped.

I also cleared my cache before I went for the last 2 games of the season and it did not help in any way.

How many minutes a quarter do you play? I had this achievement pop up for me after I did a shooting drill.

After the Summer Circuit, go to options and set the sim quarter length to 1 minute, and in-game play at 12 minutes. This way all the other rookies will play at most is 4 minutes a game, and you will be getting 20+ minutes a game, which will give you better stats than all the other rookies making you the clear cut winner for Rookie of the Year. The trophy should appear during the end of regular season awards screen. Though with patch 1.20, the trophy requires you to play a few drills or a few playoff games for the trophy to appear.

This one should be easy as long as you alter the mode into your favor. In the settings, you can change the quarter lengths of both your games and the simulated games for the rest of the league. Setting yours at a nice number such as 8 minutes will give you enough time to get solid ratings every game and good stats. Setting the simulated games at 1 minute quarters will lower the stats of every other team in the league. The game doesn't takes the minutes into account and just thinks that you are heaps better than everyone else in the league. If you are on a team such as the Wizards or the Clippers, you may have to fight a fellow rookie for the title, but it should be easy. This can also only be done on your first season.

If this doesn't unlock, play another game after achieving the award and it will unlock.
