How to unlock the Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown achievement in NBA 2K11 - Definitive Guide

i found that the easiest way to beat lebron was to make him 7'6 and lower his dunk, standing dunk, speed, vertical, and hustle stats. for some reason if you try making him 5'3, he can still finish with out any problems, but at 7'6 hes so akwardly huge that he cant finish over half of his dunk attempts. also by editing his speed and hustle he dosent chase down the ball and wont get off as many attempts as you will. i just used a low prop (bench, three tires, chair, etc.) and i just did the most generic dunks possible, like up+up, up+down, down+right, and so on. even though they are only worth 70-77 points the prop will up your score to the 78-82ish range. that dosent seem like much, but if you keep doing it youll easily get off nearly twice as many attempts as lebron. lebron will still try really difficult dunks, so when he does actually make one he will score between 83-88 points and he will also get around 30-35 for each missed attempt. after you play the dunk contest a couple of times and get your timing down, you really shouldnt have an issue beating lebron. just keep practing though, until you have your timing.

Definitely making lebron big and fat makes a difference. The easy dunks with short props are the way to go. Lebron in mine went to go running after a ball and never came back. He made two dunks and that was it. It was 564 to 185 or something like that.

No matter what I get, he shouldn't be getting that high correct?

As a supplement to CanadaAckis' solution, I thought I'd add a couple of points from my experiences with the 2K11 dunk comp, as well as those in previous games.

Firstly - Jordan is definitely the guy to choose to beat LeBron.

I didn't change any of LeBron's stats, but I did have some familiarity with the dunk controls after playing previous NBA 2K games. That said I was a bit rusty and took a couple of games to warm up.

I would seriously suggest just taking the first 2-3 games as practice, learning the exact moment when to hit or rotate the directional stick once, then twice, in order to get the dunk animation going.

Actually completing the dunk, once in the air, is easier than expected - it is almost a case of natural timing.

But practice a bit to start with.

Once you are warmed up, the good news is that the format of the dunk comp in 2K11 - 90 seconds to perform as many dunks as possible in order to get the highest score - makes is a lot easier than in previous years (where you had to score highest on individual dunks in order to defeat opponents)

The format in fact values quantity of dunks rather than quality.

I just ensured I got through as many dunks as possible in the time allotted - even if they only scored 60-70 points, I completed them and then ran back to a spot to begin the next one.

The logic being that if I performed and completed more dunks than LeBron, I'd score more. And that's what happened.

So, aim to complete a variety of dunks that are solid rather than super flashy. LeBron will go for some ridiculous ones, hit some but miss others - and that's where your slow and steady method helps out.

It took me only 4 attempts to get this achievement after having not played a dunk comp in many months.

And lastly - you don't really have to even worry about the props. Setting them up wastes time and increases the chances of errors on your dunks.

First off, you want to go and edit all LeBron's stats so they are the lowest they can possible go. Second, go and edit the player you will use to go against LeBron, such as a Josh Smith or Nate Robinson. Now go to game modes and then NBA Blacktop and from there you will see from there you will see Slam Dunk Showdown. Pick who you will be playing as and have Lebron be the second player.

In the dunk showdown, use simple dunks with no props. You want to able to make your dunks as a Lebron with lowered stats will be missing dunks and even losing the ball in midair. It may take a few tries depending on your skill level of dunking, but a lowered LeBron is way easier to defeat than a normal LeBron.

This sounds hard, but with a rookie difficulty it is quite easy. It may take a round or two to get used to the Slam Dunk Competition's controls, but once you do, just challenge LeBron in a 1 on 1 competition. I suggest dunking over an object repeatedly while slightly altering your dunk each time to get as many points as possible.
