How to unlock the 99 Problems and Domination Ain't One! achievement in NBA 2K14 - Definitive Guide

This achievement is glitched for me, and a few other people.

In order to get 3 stars in a Domination game you MUST use an all-BRONZE player lineup. The reason being is that you get a 3x Multiplier towards your score. There are a total of 33 games that you need to play and are separated between the Western and Eastern conferences, along with three all-star games.

There isn't a set list on what you have to do in order to get your score above 6000, but this is what I did in every game which got me around 7-9k.

Before you begin playing, make sure you change the free throw difficulty to 0 when in the main menu. Not the MyTeam menu, but the menu when you select NBA Today.

You do NOT have to win the game in order to get 3 stars!

- Try to score more than 80 points! You could probably get past with 70+, but I have never got below 7000 score if I scored above 80 points.

- Have at least 4 players scoring in double digits. I usually had two players with 20+, and 3 or 4 players with 10+.

- Play a fast paced offense. Attack the basket and try to run fast breaks as much as possible. You're more than likely not going to get a chance of scoring 60+ if you're running plays and playing slow.

- Play a Full Court Trap on defense. If you can't steal the ball on the inbound, let your opponent run up to the basket and try for a layup. If you have some good big men then you shouldn't have a problem getting a lot of blocks when doing this. By doing that all game I usually averaged around 15+ blocks a game.

- Don't be afraid of letting them score! If you're strapping them on defense and not letting them attack the basket everytime then you're going to be wasting a LOT of time. I usually kept jumping until they started to attack the basket. With your defensive assist at 100, I found that your big men usually close into them a lot faster when they attack it, so it will give you a better chance of getting the block.

You could also intentional foul to make sure you get at least 20+ a quarter, although I never did it and I'm not sure if you lose any points if you cause a lot of fouls.

Here's the lineup that I used during all of these games:

1 - Jordan Farmer / J.J Barea
2- Caldwell-Pope / Allen Crabbe
3 - Anthony Morrow / Wesley Johnson
4 - Tyler Zeller
5 - Tre Rollins / Greg Stiemsma

These guys are mostly all I used in-game. All but Tre Rollins can be found in Bronze packs.

If there's any other tips that you think I should include, feel free to let me know in the comments. Good luck!

For the people having problems with this achievement.. I just got this to pop for me after replaying most of the games all the way to utah jazz and it popped right after. I just re-played the teams I had no players on since those were the ones that glitched.

Damn, glad it unlocked for you. I've replayed every single game again to three star them and it still did not unlock. All games were fine without any interruption from the 2k servers or anything as well. cry

Hey guys, I'm having a hell of a time with this. I'm using pretty decent bronze players but can't seem to get more than 3 stars on against any team except the worst in each division. At some point in the game, my players start missing uncontested layups, etc. I consistently score 50 - 65 points and I have never won a single domination game out of 15 played. I try to score quick to get to 80 in 6 minute quarters, but never happens. Thoughts?

I read that the people that are having this glitch on them are the ones that played this mode when your score combined to reach 6000. so if you played 2 games to equal 6k. They patched it so you have to play one game and get 6k in one game. so if you replay the first few games and try getting 6 k :)

Let me know if this is true. I have only played after patch

I have only played after patch as well, so I still have no idea. Currently going through all the games again though to see if it unlocks along the way.

Yeah, I have been doing that ever since it glitched and I haven't had any luck yet. Also, they patched the method to reset your stars.

Suns - Gerald Green
76ers - Michael Carter Williams
Kings - Jimmer Ferdette
Pacers - Chris Copeland
Suns - Miles Plumlee
Nets - Evans
Bucks - Carlos Defino
Bulls - Mike Dunleavy

ALL these guys are amazing players, and helped me alot.

If Gerald Green get hot, ride him like all day!!!
Copeland has a great shot, 75% of threes drop
and Carter-Williams can finish in the lane!

You say to set free throw difficulty to 0 and defensive assist to 100, so this means we can adjust sliders to make this achievement easier? Why not just make it so every shot is at 100?

The only setting that seems to carry over and actually help you is the free throw difficulty. Adjusting sliders will not work.

This game mode could have been cool. Playing with worse players and scoring high is the only thing that matters for stars.....this mode is kind of stupid. We don't care if you play with who you want or even if you win......yeah that makes sense.

I've finally unlocked it. Without any glitches, however I had started collecting stars after the latest path.

I've seen a lot of different reccomendations about game style required for 3 stars. For me my own style worked best (pick&roll and open shots + blocks + rebounds).

Good luck to the other pursuers! :)

In my opinion the best strategy is to crash offensive AND defensive glass. For your flex strategy use limit perimeter shots. This set-up combined with full court trap pulls off a lot of turnovers and blocks. Bronze players look like gold, with this set-up. I avg 9,400 due to turnovers, blocks and rebounds alone

I got all 99 stars, no achievement. I read on here about setting the free throw difficulty to 0 so I did that, came back and re-played one game for 6600 points, still no achievement. WTH man?

I finally got this, so happy. The key for me was just driving the lane and trying to get fouled. Turning the free throw difficulty down was a godsend. My team:
PG- Patrick Mills, Steve Blake
SG-Terrence Ross, Tony Wroten, Alexey Schved
SF- Jordan Hamilton, Gerald Green
PF- Jeff Ayres, Reggie Evans
C- Zaza Pachulia, Robert Sacre

Ross, Wroten, and Mills did most of the work, they were unstoppable. Blake and Hamilton were my 3 point shooters, Green did a bit of everything, and the big men are mostly there to get blocks and rebounds. There are definitely times when it seems like you can't get a break, and I wanted to rage quit many times. Big tip is not to worry about the opponent scoring, I would lose games 95-72 and still get 3 stars, just try to play your best. If you only have 60 points and there's only a minute or two left just start fouling the other team so you get the ball back and try to score again.

If for someone the achievement is still glitched, 2k support seems to have suggested a correct workaround to xboxachievements.com user Invincible666.

This is quote unquote from the 2k support guy;

"Hello,
Thanks for contacting 2k tech support.
If it is possible, would you mind changing the free throw difficulty to 0 when in the main menu.(Not the MyTeam menu, but the menu when you select NBA Today) and try to replay some of the teams again to see if the achievement were to unlock for you ?"

I looked at this and said....geez they seriously have no clue. BUT, I tried it...and it worked. One and done with this method. I went to the Menu, took it down to 0, went to MyTeam checked options there, went back out to ensure everything had stuck and then replayed Orlando for a convincing 7100 points and thus a 3 star. On that screen the achievement unlocked.

I would love to take credit for it but it was technically 2ksupport that assisted me so I hope that anyone here is able to replicate that scenario and finally unlock the achievement. [...]"

This workaround worked for me! I had free throw difficulty already at 0, I changed to 55, went back to MyTeam in order to let it register the change. Then I went back to change it to 0 and started a match with the Nets: 7000 points and achievement unlocked!

do the stars combine or do you have to get 6000 points in a game to get the three stars.

1 game with more than 6000 stars. you can't combine.
tip: full bronze team lineup, try to have 4 or 5 players in double figures and you're good almost all the time

players i used:
PM - T. Taylor
G - T. Hardaway Jr.
SF - C. Delfino
PF - M. Teletovic
C - Z. Pachulia

other great players for this mode
PM - Blake, Farmar, Maynor
G - Bazemore
SF - Green, Clark
PF/C - J. Thompson / A. Nicholson

It’s possible to get 3 stars, that is, 6000 points, by playing only with bronze players

Accordingly, there are 2 ways to get 6000 points:

1. take a magic pill +100 to your skill, stock up on valerian and take out all your opponents, scoring 60+ points with a bunch of blocks, thefts, double-doubles, etc. Always use L1 and . It is not necessary to win; let your opponents go to the ring to block or foul to save time.

2. We recruit a team of big guys with a high blocking skill and stupidly block everything. Accordingly, after each play we immediately run behind the court line and continue making blocks.

even if you lose 0-150, but hit 40 blocks, you can get 3 stars

To get 3 stars using the second method, you need at least 40 blocks, don't confuse people.
