It's not letting me select either bonus game or early too off it just says loading and the only thing I can do is back out to the main menu of the game... I've already tried deleting my save and played through again but the same thing happened... Any help?

Yeah unobtainable

I’m seeing the same issue. Anyone figure out a workaround yet? It seems like the achievement stopped unlocking as soon as 2018 started. Has anyone tried messing with the date and time settings to see if you can fool the game in offline mode?

Yeah that might work - also the game said that it needed an update for me.. so maybe if you don't update and stay offline?

It requires to get online in order to play. If they dont fix it, I think it is unobtainable

You totally should have done that update required. How did you get that to pop up? I think that update is the solution to this problem but I can't get any updates to pop up.

Well, I was wrong. I got the update and it did nothing. However, it may work if you install the update BEFORE you load up the Prelude period. I haven't tried that yet.

Getting no reply from this guy... is he a cheat?

I don't think he's a cheat, he responded to me once saying he basically had no trouble popping the achievement on his first try. He may not be responding because he's getting messages from multiple people.

Paul finished all other achievements in 2017, hence he already had the match unlocked before the glitch that doesn't allow unlocking started... Copy/pasting response his response below:

To be honest I didn't do anything special. I only has the USA v Australia game to play and simply played it, no skipping or causing fouls. Once it played out it popped and the game took me to a page trying to get me to buy 2k17.

I didn't get any server messages or anything and didn't have an update if that helps.

I've amended the OP to hopefully stop any more people attempting it without reading the comments. Also submitted game info to say Partly Discontinued/Unobtainable.

I tried all solutions and played through twice and was unable unlock this achievement and I doubt 2k cares about fixing it.

ToujoursAvance4 - So what is your reason for all that you stated in your comment? I read "I just got this today" thinking you got the achievement only to read the rest for no reason at all.

If there's nothing you can say that most haven't already tried/heard, why say something at all?

Maybe one day 2K will unlock this achievement for us.

Right under Game Information, you can clearly read the words "This game has 1 Partly Discontinued/Unobtainable achievement."

Would it be possible to get it if you had the full game, cant see anyone asking this already, would it be worth a try?

Not sure how having an entirely different game would get you any achievement in any other game. This achievement is for NBA 2K17 The Prelude. And it's officially unobtainable due to the developers not wanting to fork over any amount of money to create a patch to fix it.

looks like nomimi1 unlocked it 2/28/18!

He also lives outside the US, as Paulfei already unlocked it a month ago as well and he's from England or something. Nomimi1 did the same thing Paulfei did, he got to the final game back on October 17, 2017(before 2018) and then continued it today to get the achievement. Your hopes just got CRUSHED.

Wow an other unobtainable achievement. Can't load the bonus game, it returns me to the Main Menu every fucking time. So cool my completion is ruined. I fucking hate that shit. I completed this game back in 2017 on my old account and now it has an unobtainable.

That's sad .. bonus game doesn't load at all.

Wish I would have read the comments before playing this game. Now my game progress will forever say 800/1000. Damn.. 😔

Officially unattainable

As per the above comment from dunce (just a few comments up from the this one) - People were able to unlock it if they had gotten to the final game BEFORE 2018 kicked in and then continued their game... they were able to attain it. I assume this is the reason it remains as partly discontinued/unobtainable.

Flag it if you feel otherwise.

@geordiedeviant It's definitely unobtainable. I contacted 2k once a week for a couple of months a good 5 months ago and there's just nothing they can do about it. Fixing a 2017 prelude that nobody actively plays online is just not something they care to worry about.

Why "PARTLY unobtainable"? I almost started this game! Nobody unlocked this achievement since 2017 December, so absolutely no way to get this one! I don't understand TA's unobtainable flags today... And the whole game flagged as "offline" but right after the start you have to be online to connect to the servers or else you can't do anything in the game.

Because 'unobtainable' is flagged as achievements that have never been legitimately unlocked.

If anything this achievement now needs to be flagged as Discontinued since it is no longer possible to aquire it.

If you go to report game info you will see the descriptions of the flags. Also have you flagged it or just having a moan?

I flagged many achievements before, sometimes the admins reflagged them. I remember the Dead Rising 3 not flagged for almost 2 years, because not had any user report. But this game have zero user flags in the game info forum, then who and why flagged imprecisely? Now I reflagged this game, hope will be modified!

so eh wish I saw this before loading it up...damn.

I even tried using a friends account who had the final game unlocked on his save and earned the achievement; sadly, I still got the message "This MYPlayer Account has expired" and had to create a new one... & it wouldn't let me access his MYCareer unless I was connected online. So I couldn't even get to the final game offline on his tag. I give up.

Came to check what ultimately happened to this achievement, quite fun convo to read, fun to read Dunce kept calling 2k for half a year haha,I kept picturing devs in yachts... and everyone complaining to Georgie for bad flagging but doing nothing about it to fix it haha --- oh well

I just spent 3 hours doing this for nothing. The last achievement is unobtainable now that it's 2018. You can't change the date and time online either. Only thing I can think of is to somehow contact 2k.

after noticing Paulfei unlocked today, I tried again with no luck... I got the "update required" while I was playing few days back but I never updated... I wonder if maybe there's a new stable build? I dont want to update just in case the solution was found on the original build... I'm texting Paulfei, if he replies I'll post back here

TheSameDunce, edited. Meant I started the game today and didn't check the achievement list before starting it. I messed around with the game for a few hours today to see if I could figure out a workaround despite the fact that it's 2018. I was doubtful but I've seen so many creative solutions on here that work when things like this happen that I was still a little motivated. Unfortunately because this one was tied to a specific end date once the new year started, (or at least that's mostly what I've read) I don't think there's anything that will work or anything I can say that most haven't already tried/heard.

Is there any way to track this in the hopes that it becomes unlockable again in the future? Be nice to get a notification or something if they fix it.

PR0MOTE There's 2 ways to track it. 1 is reliable, the other is a wild goose chase.

The 1st and best way to track it is to basically visit the page you are on weekly and scroll down to where it says Recent Winners. If the most recent winner is in 2018, then you know the achievement has been fixed.

The 2nd and supposedly "2K's way" of tracking it is to visit https://twitter.com/NBA2K, https://twitter.com/2KSupport, and https://twitter.com/2K?lang=en. These are the 3 places they told me a patch/update for the Prelude would show up. But after almost 3 months in 2018, the only updates/patches on those websites are basically NBA 2K18 related.

I do NOT expect this achievement to EVER be obtainable. When money is involved(that's what a patch needs to exist), then it's just not worth it to 2K. I've had numerous conversations with 2K support about this issue. If you really want to unlock it, the only people I have yet to get in contact with is the developers of 2K games. And I'm talking the devs high up. The ones that you may have to know in order to just have a conversation with them. You may have to swim out to their yacht in order to find them.

The negative votes are most likely from the ones who can't get this unobtainable achievement. Duh

what's up w/ the downvoting?!? could it be the same as the bottom solution where people don't seem to be able to figure out how the "sim to end" part work,if this is the same reason this is getting down votes then some should be ashammed of themselves since it all showed in the video & I simply can not see other reasons to downvote this,this is thorough as all the Maka guides I've seen :)
Oh,I can however add that this game (unlike the recently Ben-Hur game) is available through the XBL Shop in Europe
