This is quite simple. You dont even need xbox live friends for it.
In you MyCourt, press
to open the 'Play Games with Friends' menu. Scroll down to Strikeout and press 
to invite players. Invite a player from your NBA team. Preferably, someone from the bottom of the list, so that they are easier to beat.
All you need to do now is win the game by scoring 3 times before your opponent does.

Tip for anyone having trouble inviting people to your court: If you can't invite anyone and haven't invited anyone before like me, there was an interaction I had before a game with Giannis and a few days later he texted me and mentioned coming over. I was able to invite him, and then after that I was able to invite any of my contacts. From reading online, you may get a different player first depending on your schedule (I had a similar interaction with Anthony Davis), so just look for any texts from players that say something about coming to your court
