How to unlock the The G.O.A.T. achievement in NBA 2K24 - Definitive Guide

First off, this has to be one of the most MISERABLE experiences I have ever done when completing an achievement. I did learn some tricks along the way I need to share to maybe make this experience a little bit less grueling, however you're looking at least a couple days of grinding to get this.

The main goal is getting more GOAT points than MJ and winning 7 championships...

First off, I 100% recommend you play a couple of games the first season to upgrade your player and get your stats up. I think I played about 25 games in the first season, got my guy to a 90+ overall and got my stats up. Also when selecting a team, choose a GOOD team, (Celtics, Grizzlies, Warriors, Lakers) I chose the Grizzlies.

Once you have your player upgraded you are ready to play one game on 12 min quarters, get as many points, assists, rebounds, etc. as possible. I made a big man, to get assists, call for the ball at the top of the key, and hold Y. This will get one of your players to cut to the basket, keep holding Y until your teammate has your man beat to the basket, which will ensure that he won't get fouled and will either dunk it or lay it up. Rebounds come naturally, and points if you put it on Rookie difficulty when playing the matches, if you euro step every time, they cannot guard it. To do this you need to be driving to the basket and double tap X, while holding X on the second press. I do not think I ever missed a euro step layup in 7 seasons.

Now once you have a monster game and your player is upgraded, you can start simming thru the games. You can check your Award status for MVP in 'MyCarreer' -> 'Stats' -> 'League Awards'. If you ever see your self slipping out of the #1 spot for MVP, just play a game and boost your stats.

The miserable part is when your simming thru the games, you will HAVE to play the Key games, don't let it fool you, you don't have to pass the key games, you only get about 1,000 GOAT points for doing one of these, you get so much from winning MVP, getting selected to the all star game, and winning the championship. What I did was every time I had a key game, I would just foul out. Takes about 5 mins or less to do because you can't skip thru the halftime report.

Now once you get to the playoffs, set your difficulty to PRO if you are on rookie, I have noticed that when I am simming thru the playoff games on rookie, I would lose to the other team a lot, when on PRO I would usually sweep the team that I am playing. I have spent like three seasons coming back from down 3-1 in the playoffs which was miserable. Once you get to the finals and are up like 3-1 or something you HAVE to play the last game of the finals. What I would do is foul my way to the forth quarter and just finish the game like that. (2 fouls right away you get subbed to the beginning of the 2nd Qt, 3rd foul takes you to the start of the 3rd QT, 4th foul takes you to the 4th QT.) Now just simply rinse and repeat that process SIX MORE TIMES.

Lastly, as you are progressing through the seasons, your career stats will go up, sometimes a random key game will pop up for example like "Score enough points to pass Larry Bird on the career points list" or something like that. You need to foul out of 3 straight games to skip that Key game, Then that key game will go away.

On the contrary, if a key game pops up that says "Score enough points to get top 50 in scoring, assists, or rebounds", you HAVE to complete that in any number of games it takes for you do complete it. This is the only key games you cannot skip by fouling out. This key game only popped up in like the 5th or 6th season.

Other than that, that is pretty much it, it takes forever to do this and is so boring, just upgrade your player, get on a good team, foul out of every key game and sim as much as possible.

Good luck, I wasted three days of my life I can never get back.

Sincerely 3 days for this achievement doesn't looks so bad😀 I'm in my first season (with a 90 SF) and reaching millions GOAT points seems impossible, like 100 hours of play 😅 Thanks for the guide. It's really long and boring.

Great guide! Same expierence on my end, I would be pissed seeing I have no key games for a while and then one popped out of no where! I actually had to do this eight time because I accidently simmed a playoff game that was 3-3 and lost 🫤. Took about 3 days of just playing 2k, and was just insane.

Got an error code in the playoffs in my 7th season and it corrupted my file, only thing 2k support couldn't restore was my Mycareer progress so I'm back to season 1 game 1 with 0 goat points. At least I got the 7 mvp achievement right before it happened I guess lol. 😞

Quick question, how is everyone getting to 90 so fast in the first season? Are you spending money on VC or am I just missing something? I've spent all the VC I've made in this mode and am only at 72.
